3/21 (Thu) The backtest for the sales page must be "all ticks".
EA developer Reiwa's Double-I is here.
Today,
「Backtests on the sales page must use 'all ticks'」
That is the content.
-----------------------------
About types of backtests
-----------------------------
First, I will explain the types of backtests.
There are three types.
“All ticks”, “Control points”, “Open prices only”
These three exist.
All ticks ➜ Backtest using four price data points of a 1-minute chart
Control points ➜ Backtest using one lower timeframe than the EA’s timeframe as well
Open prices only ➜Backtest using four tick data price points
That is to say,
In the development phase of an EA,
if it operates on open prices, it will be developed with “Open prices only.”
(Open price operation: an EA that only operates on the opening price of candlesticks)And thenFinally, we verify with a backtest using all ticks.Because it uses four data points of a 1-minute chart for the backtest, for example on charts of 5 minutes or longer, how the high/low values were formed from the open price to the close, in what order, becomes more accurate,so“All ticks” is the most reliable.By the wayWith a 1-minute EA, the high and low order on MT4 can be determined “pseudo-virtually,”which reduces reliability, and the modeling quality drops to 25%.Because of that, even on charts of 5 minutes or longer, it won’t reach 100%,it will be 90%.In addition, for tick-data suites (TDS) where spreads fluctuatethe reliability increases further, reaching 99.90%.Now,When submitting an EA for listing/publishing,the backtest is also uploaded,Typically it is submitted as “All ticks.”Sometimes it is published as “Open prices only.”Some people think, “Since it’s an open-prices EA, it won’t change much, so it’s fine.”There are lazy folks who think that sometimes.(Open prices only backtests finish in a shorter time)However, even for open-prices EA,take profit (TP) and stop loss (SL) are settled by ticks, not by opens, so the results can change, and if the EA has many TP/SL,it’s even more important to do it with all ticks.Well then!━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━【Reiwa’s Double-I EA Listing】https://www.gogojungle.co.jp/users/112481/products━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━【Reiwa’s Double-I Series Articles】■ EA Beginner’s Coursehttps://www.gogojungle.co.jp/finance/navi/series/1700■ No Hesitation! And then
Finally, we verify with a backtest using all ticks.
Because it uses four data points of a 1-minute chart for the backtest,
for example on charts of 5 minutes or longer,
how the high/low values were formed from the open price to the close, in what order, becomes more accurate,
so
“All ticks” is the most reliable.
By the way
With a 1-minute EA, the high and low order on MT4 can be determined “pseudo-virtually,”
which reduces reliability,
and the modeling quality drops to 25%.
Because of that, even on charts of 5 minutes or longer, it won’t reach 100%,
it will be 90%.
In addition, for tick-data suites (TDS) where spreads fluctuate
the reliability increases further, reaching 99.90%.
Now,
When submitting an EA for listing/publishing,
the backtest is also uploaded,
Typically it is submitted as “All ticks.”
Sometimes it is published as “Open prices only.”
Some people think, “Since it’s an open-prices EA, it won’t change much, so it’s fine.”
There are lazy folks who think that sometimes.
(Open prices only backtests finish in a shorter time)
However,
even for open-prices EA,
take profit (TP) and stop loss (SL) are settled by ticks, not by opens, so the results can change, and if the EA has many TP/SL,
it’s even more important to do it with all ticks.
Well then!
