Closing of the NY Stock Exchange; Nikkei futures; after-hours trading
The NY stock market rebounded; after a downward trend, there was buying in the small/mid-cap index, transportation index, and utilities index, lifting the overall stock market.
In the Michigan Sentiment速報, despite consumer sentiment index significantly underperforming market expectations, inflation expectations rose to a 12-year high, showing mixed signals.
However, concerns about prolonged monetary tightening cooled negative sentiment, and the fact that a US–China summit would be held on the 15th also supported investor sentiment.
Expectations of easing US–China trade tensions led to more than 4% rise in the semiconductor SOX index; the upward revision by 8035 Tokyo Electron Limited announced yesterday also contributed to buying sentiment.
Weekly charts show all three major US indices higher than the previous week’s close; the SOX index and S&P 100 index also closed above last week’s close.
Transport index, utilities index, S&P400, and Russell 2000, which had been down until yesterday, ended the week negative on a weekly basis.
Nikkei futures and after-hours trading rose; gains in US stocks and buying in tech stocks were supportive factors.
Chicago 225 futures (as of 11th 6:59) closed at 32,820 yen; Moody's downgraded the US outlook, narrowing the gains.
High (O) for TSE First Section: 32,925 yen (5:29 on the 11th); Low: 32,420 yen (20:48 on the 10th).
