NYSE Closing Prices, Nikkei 225 Futures, After-Hours Trading
On October 27, the U.S. stock market closed mixed, with the Nasdaq indices rebounding, while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average finished lower for the third day in a row.
Oil major Chevron fell 6.7% (new 52-week low), dragging down the Dow Jones Industrial Average amid earnings disappointment; another blow came from reports that JPMorgan's CEO owned stock was being sold, drawing market ire.
Nasdaq indices rebounded, all seven of the top traded stocks rose, as buying momentum broadened on the back of Intel's earnings results.
The S&P 500 remained weak, ending the week with a break below the 52-week moving average, suggesting a correction.
The VIX index showed an unexpected result: up 2% on the day, but on a weekly basis it was negative, with only the public utilities index rising on a weekly comparison.
Nikkei 225 futures fell, ending at 30,605 yen for the mini, down 435 yen.
