Stock Talk Kabushiru Market Live and Video URL from August 14–19【18th NY Closing Bell, Japan stocks tomorrow (21st)】
Good evening, starting tomorrow for one weekThank you in advance.
NY Stock Market Close, Nikkei Stock Average Futures, After-Hours Trading
Over the weekend, major three indices on the NY stock market were mixed, lacking clear catalysts, while the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasuries rose to around the 4.3% level at one point, which weighed on bonds as prices fell.
With the 10-year government bond price movement not attracting buyers, early trading was soft, but later buying in Treasuries seemed to lift the stock market as well.
Small- and mid-cap indices (S&P 400, Russell 2000), and the Semiconductor SOX index rose notably; among individual names, Applied Materials and Linde Stores showed notable gains after earnings releases.
After-hours earnings release from cybersecurity firm Palo Alto Networks rose more than 7%, helping to salvage hopes for Nasdaq in the following week, which had been a worst performer since last December.
Nikkei futures and after-hours trade were little changed versus the August 18 settle, remaining above the lower bound of the daily chart’s Ichimoku cloud and holding steady.
Week-on-week gains were in three: Nikkei futures after-hours, Dow Jones Industrial Average, and Dow Jones Transportation Average.
High: 32,815 yen (23:09 on the 10th); Low: 32,430 yen (04:56 on the 12th).
