NY Stock Market Close - Nikkei 225 Futures and After-Hours Trading
Over the weekend, U.S. stock futures opened higher but later faced selling pressure as profits were taken.
The Nasdaq-100 index and the Semiconductor SOX index reached 52-week highs, and several individual stocks also posted new highs, but buying cooled after the Michigan sentiment index flash data was released.
Major banks that reported earnings before the market opened (such as JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo) came under selling pressure toward the close, prompting profit-taking selling.
Among individual stocks, Nvidia and Meta Platforms (Facebook) surged, while Tesla Motors and UnitedHealth Group, which reported strong results, were bought.
Next week, corporate earnings season intensifies, with Tesla Motors, Netflix, and IBM due to report on the 19th.
Nikkei 225 futures and after-hours trading ended slightly lower, with the probability of a YCC adjustment at the next BOJ meeting exceeding 80%.
YCC refers to Yield Curve Control (see below).
