Among many moving averages, in an uptrend,

there are moving-average linesthat act effectively as a support line during pullbacks of a certain widthwidth.

In addition, in a downtrend,

there are moving-average linesthat function effectively as resistance lines during retracementsof a certain width.

In other words, if the price breaks below a support line in an uptrend, it signals the start of a decline, and

if in a downtrend it breaks above a resistance line without being bounced back, it signals the start of an rise.

the support and resistance lines become turning lineswhich is to say that they turn into turning lines.
