As inflation remains high globally, the market continues to focus on U.S. economic indicators. The September U.S. employment report released on the 7th showed non-farm payrolls up by 263,000, surpassing market expectations of 250,000. The unemployment rate was 3.5%, versus expectations of 3.7%. This release strengthened expectations that the Fed will continue to raise rates, with the yield on the 10-year Treasury rising to 3.88% after briefly dipping into the 3.5% range the previous week, approaching the 4% level last reached on September 28. The Dow also fell about $630 the previous day.
However, nearby gold futures did not fall sharply, down by about $11.50 from the previous day, and concerns remain about sticky inflation and a stronger dollar…
