- The FX I thought was dangerous
Motty started FX about five years ago. At first, he had a surprisingly dangerous image of FX. However, due to TV, that image was dispelled, and his interest in FX heated up rapidly.
"I saw on a TV program a Tokyo University student around my age doing FX, and that got me interested. I didn't know much about FX, but I decided to open an account and just give it a try!"
Moreover, being bold by nature, he traded with real money from the start.
"Of course, I didn't win at all at first. I used moving averages, Bollinger Bands, and RSI, but looking back, my rules were vague, so it was the worst (laughs)."
- Hoarding trading materials and wandering?
Back then, Motty was a textbook amateur, as he recalls.
"From the second year on, I bought up a lot of materials, but most of what I bought was useless. Also, I once got wiped out in one shot with enormous leverage in an overseas account. Realizing this was really dangerous, I started talking to professional traders and began working at an investment company while studying hard."
- Patterns become simple when you can read them
Motty began using MT4 around this time, testing many indicators and evaluating various methods.
"When I started using MT4, I loaded a lot of indicators. But as I tested them, I learned which ones tend to generate profits and which do not, and it gradually became simpler. Also, as you trade longer, you can read patterns. I think the turning point when I started winning was when I understood higher-timeframe patterns and could ride the flow on lower-timeframe charts."
- Trade with composure while testing
As mentioned above, Motty clearly explains his methods on his blog. We asked him again for beginner advice.
"Ultimately, I think simple is best. At first it's important to try different things, and that's not a waste, but you should do testing. Also, it's important to trade with room to breathe. At first, I think it's best to start with an amount that allows you to average down about 10 times."
Motty openly shares his experiences and the hard-won knowledge. His information should be enjoyable for both beginners and advanced traders. Of course, his original indicators are full of his own dedication and quirks. Why not give them a try?
