U.S. stocks on the 31st fell: Dow Jones Industrial Average by 59.78 points, S&P 500 by 12.55 points, and Nasdaq by 96.59 points.
There seems to have been a move to lock in profits toward year-end.
We have entered January.
Although there was a rise at year-end, the market tends to change dramatically at the start of the year, so a downturn is possible.
