Cannot change the background of CryptoWatch's chart to white... And what will happen to BTC's price movement with the SegWit2x postponement statement?
Hello everyone, cryptowatch! I’m charged up for this long-awaited column@xi10jun1here.
Last week I paused the column briefly, sorry about that.
I might have overworked my eyes staring at the PC too much. I’ll take better care of my health….
※Continuing from the previous post, there is an important notice for those who read the paid version, so I would appreciate it if you could read further down.
※This column is designed so half of it is free to read, a heart of benevolence. Of course, if you read up to the paid portion (updated weekly for 400 yen per month, about 80–100 yen per article), it would be a great encouragement!
This week’s results (November 2, 2017 to November 9, 2017)

First, as usual, the results. I’ll announce the changes first.
- Last week (through November 2, 2017) assets: 52,059 yen
- This week (through November 9, 2017) assets: 52,059 yen
- Change: 0 yen
With the SegWit2x postponement statement and other things causing price movement, and I’ve been busy launching a new site, plus the eye strain at the top, I haven’t been able to trade calmly.
However, when you panic and trade thinking “I must trade now,” nothing good happens, so I’ll take it slow.
So this time, I’ll write about the cryptocurrencies charts that seem to have recently become new on cryptowatch.
Cannot change the chart background!
Recently the chart background, or rather the colors on cryptowatch, have changed to something like this.

The background is pitch black! I’ve been trading with a white background until now, so it feels odd.
“Well, colors can be changed, right? Let me revert it.”
I looked through the settings here and there, but on bitFlyer I can’t change the background to white no matter what I do.
I can temporarily change the colors on the screen using Inspect Element with a right-click, but editing everything every time is a pain….
Furthermore, I also tried accessing cryptowatch’s own page (→https://cryptowatch.jp/), and it seems that if you create an account, the first 14 days are free, and after that there is a monthly fee of $15.
It isn’t unusable, so I guess I’ll have to get used to it. The images used in this column will also become dark from now on.
Also, the image size is heavy, since it’s all dark background, the file sizes become quite large.
Free section summary: Consider chart changes in your calculation
I didn’t expect the chart screen to change. This is also a kind of risk….
But since I’m using it for free, I shouldn’t complain too much. Still, I wish they would at least allow changing the background color….
$15 per month. In Japanese yen, that’s about 1,700 yen (114 yen × 15 dollars) today. Hmm.
So this paid column will discuss the future outlook.
About the paid column access
Recently I received notice from FX-On about “Possible data breach due to unauthorized access.” Consequently, credit card payments may be temporarily unavailable, so access to the paid portion of the column may be restricted.
Therefore, for paid subscribers who use credit card payments, I would appreciate it if you could purchase via convenience store payment or bank transfer instead.
Thank you for your cooperation.
End-of-page Corner 1: Latest tax information
The National Tax Agency’s site has updated the latest legal view on Bitcoin.
That is here →No.1524 Taxation related to profits from using Bitcoin | Income Tax | National Tax Agency
According to this, profits obtained by using Bitcoin are considered “miscellaneous income.”
So, profits from margin trading like mine are, in principle, miscellaneous income. As I’ve been noting in the blog’s End-of-Page Corner, as described in the article (→File taxes for Bitcoin margin trading (BTCFX)! Would it be gross income taxed together? Separate taxation? | Ju, Investor of the Lazy Generation), it seems that loss-offset is not possible. I wish this could be handled differently….
Also, according to comments by bitFlyer’s President and CEO Hiroo Kano on NewsPicks (No.1524 Taxation related to profits from using Bitcoin - NewsPicks), if you buy Bitcoin for 100,000 yen and use it to buy something when it’s worth 500,000 yen, the 400,000 yen difference is treated as profit.
When you spend Bitcoin on goods or services, if the price of Bitcoin at purchase time is higher than at the time of purchase, that amount is recognized as profit. Therefore, this would apply to purchases on FANCY as well, so be careful.
※Please note that laws and tax interpretations may continue to change, and filing taxes or payment methods may change. Before filing, be sure to check with your nearest tax office or a tax accountant.
End-of-page Corner 2: Try shopping with Bitcoin!
Actually, the overseas e-commerce site “FANCY” allows you to purchase goods using Bitcoin! It costs a bit in shipping, but there are stylish items not found in Japan!
I’ve summarized how to use FANCY on this blog, so please refer to that.

- →How to buy (pay with) items on FANCY with Bitcoin | Ju, Investor of the Lazy Generation
※Free ends here. From here on, it’s detailed analysis and future outlook, so it will be paid content. For those who want to read more, or as a tips-donation style support, your subscription would greatly encourage me! Thank you for your continued support!
