“Published as a column on Toyo Keizai ONLINE” A substance that’s good for the health of body, mind, and money?
Good morning, this is Matsushita.
Today's title is,
I think it's meaningless.
As for healthy addictions of the mind and body,
I have never heard of them,
and I think you can hardly imagine them.
That addiction is
the addiction to “past verification.”
Even though it’s called past verification,
it is not the kind of verification many people imagine
that uses automated trading programs to compute trading results
with the push of a single button.
It is a painstaking process of entering each individual trade history by hand.
It’s past verification done by hand, one by one.
実際には、
It's conducted as a historical verification by manual entry of each trade history.
Actually, since the day before yesterday, I have been performing past verification again,
to review a certain trading rule in the FX market.
Recently I have been忙しく writing books and doing other work,
so I hadn’t had time to do past verifications.
Having started past verification again after a long time,
once I begin, I can’t stop.
I want to trade next as soon as possible, and I want to know the results for the next currency pair
so I move from one to the next,
wanting to verify them.
At this time, naturally my focus sharpens.
That very moment resembles an addiction. (laugh)
In the Makoto Investment School Trading Research Group,
there are currently five participants, all of whom initially
knew nothing about how to do past verification, and within the study group
gradually learned the method.
By the way, this “Matsushita-method Past Verification”
was not taught to me by someone else,
I learned it entirely by self-study.
We also developed a dedicated Excel sheet for verification.
Developed for past verification.
Members who joined the study group
learn how to perform past verification,
and once they get into a rhythm,
past verification becomes endless.
In this way, the next addict is born. (laugh)
That past verification is good for the body and mind, of course because we perform it.
So it prevents wasting funds on unprofitable trades,
and
We continue the past verification until we are sure it will work,
so the chances of success and profit rise.
Also, once you start this process,
you naturally concentrate,
and your concentration improves.
A few years ago I realized that,
past verification is an extremely simple task, so
even during the process, alpha waves seem to appear.
Therefore, while performing past verification,
new trading ideas continually flash in mind.
However, what you must be careful about is not to
immediately move to verifying an idea that just flashed in.
At minimum, you should complete the current past verification
and derive some conclusion,
and only then verify the newly flashed idea.
All verification data are read from the price chart by oneself,
and entered one by one with the PC keyboard,
so the brain and hands work at full capacity.
In particular, the nerves in the hands seem to be highly stimulating to the brain,
making the brain energetic, and it’s perfect for preventing forgetfulness as you often say,
which is just right for helping memory.
For verifying a single trading idea,
it requires testing across the past several years to decades and across dozens of instruments,
so it takes at least about a month.
Even after a month of verification, if the results aren’t favorable,
Thus, by repeatedly verifying many times,
you eventually arrive at a profitable rule.
When you hear “a rule that makes profit,” you might think
it is crafted by special talent and secret theories or methods,
but it is simply the result of painstaking, bloody time-consuming work.
Past verification prevents waste of funds,
increases the potential for profit, cultivates concentration,
gives rise to new idea flashes,
and contributes to brain and fingertip health—an addictive process.
If you’re interested, please try to explore that method.
The only place I truly teach about past verification in depth
is the Trading Research Group.

By the way, there is just one caveat about this addiction to past verification:
you must be careful not to stay up all night due to excessive concentration.
Because that would harm your health,
staying up all night due to over-immersion in past verification is strictly forbidden. (laugh)
