“Toyo Keizai ONLINE column now published” The textbook that created my turning point
Good morning, this is Matsushima.
When I mentor individual investors,
I always
say, "Let's have a book that can be a textbook."
Because by reading books,
I was able to move from losses to profits.
In the harsh financial markets where 90% of people lose as they are,
for amateur and beginner investors to survive and make profits,
there is no choice but to learn from the teachings of those who came before us.
Back then as well as now, the most effective means is a book.
I will introduce the books that transformed investors from incurring losses to making profits.
1. Market Wizards
2. The New Market Wizards
3. Market Wizards: Stock Market Edition
All of the above by Jack D. Schwager
Penguin/Parham
4. Fundamentals of Market Cycles: The Meriman Cycle Theory
Raymond A. Meriman, Investment Diary
5. The Psychology of the Traders
Van K. Taip, Penguin/Parham
6. The Secrets of the Turtles
Russell Sands, Penguin/Parham
7. Market Wizards Linda Bradford Raschke's Short-Term Trading Methods
Linda Bradford Raschke
Laurence A. Conners
Penguin/Parham
8. Elliott Wave Principle
Robert Prechter
A. J. Frost
Toyo Keizai Shimbun
These books were shocking.
They made me realize how little I understood about what I had been doing up to that point,
what I needed to understand, and what I had to practice.
Some of them are still on my bookshelf,
and I have passed some on to my students.
Even now, I do not fully understand everything written in these books.
In this sense, the authors of these books are my teachers and
my admired traders/analysts.
When I look at these titles,
they remind me of the days when I was engrossed in investing.
I am still a complete novice,
back then I was an investor who knew neither right nor left.
I read these books again and again,
and I vowed to profit someday, grinding my teeth.
I remember those days.
If you look at these titles and authors, you will notice that
it is hard to encounter good books by domestic authors.
From my experience,
when it comes to good investment books, foreign authors dominate.
The above books are certainly recommended,
and there are many other good books as well.
However, to truly encounter a truly good book, you have to read about
10 books.
I am not counting, but
I think I have read more than 200 investment books.
Becoming a profitable investor means to continually learn.
Please read the books listed above.
You will be moved!
