An article published in TOYOKEIZAI ONLINE: I underwent a stomach endoscopy for the first time.
Good morning, this is Matsushita.
Yesterday's US stock market fell slightly further,
and the downtrend continues.
The Shanghai Composite also declined.
USD/JPY continues to fall, in the upper 111 yen range.
NY Gold continues to rise.
Yesterday, for the first time in my life
I underwent an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.
At a recent health checkup,
it was found that I am infected with Helicobacter pylori, indicating a gastric cancer risk
and a re-examination was scheduled.
My stomach has always been sturdy, so
this came as a surprise, but recently this gastric cancer risk test
has been becoming more common,
and I couldn’t ignore it, so I obediently underwent the test.
At 49, it was my first endoscopy, and
the doctors and nurses
took special care, saying,
“It’s your first time, but you’ll be fine,”
and I was nervous, watching the monitor, but
the procedure finished in no time.
The result was no abnormalities.
There were only traces of a past duodenal ulcer
and everything else was fine.
Feeling relieved, when I heard the results,
I was told, “From now on, please have a checkup once a year.”
I felt discouraged.
After the test yesterday, on my way home,
I wondered if it was appropriate to relate the endoscopy story
to investments,
but that turned out not to be the case.
That’s because it was expert advice.
I have a single primary doctor with whom I constantly discuss my physical condition.
For almost seven years, I’ve consulted him every year several times and received various advice.
Additionally, recently I found a specialist for my chronic asthma near home
and I’ve been seeing them every month.
For about ten years, I’ve suffered from an unexplained numbness in my right leg,
and after trying various acupuncture and massage professionals,
in May of this year, at a university hospital, it was diagnosed as a herniated disc.
Now it’s in a relatively stable state, and I regularly visit one therapist
under their care.
By the way, I also visit a dentist every three months for checks.
All of this is advice from specialists to help me live healthily in my daily life.
Thanks to this, I’m able to live in good health.
In terms of managing the company,
since starting the business 12 years ago,
I have always followed the advice of more than three experts and run the company accordingly.
I’ve relied on external specialists as well, and somehow managed to run the company for 12 years.
In addition, I’ve been helped by various outsourced specialists,
and have managed to continue operating the company for 12 years.
In this way, my health and the stable management of my company
have been made possible thanks to the many experts’ advice.
Because I don’t know anything about investing besides this,
I ask experts for opinions on anything I don’t understand and
almost always follow their advice faithfully.
How about you?
Have you ever relied on expert advice in the major undertaking of investing?
If several years of losses have been ongoing,
And your decisions and actions as the CEO could turn things profitable at any time,
but when will that happen?
If you are currently suffering losses,
I think you may need the advice of experts.
No one would expect to cure their herniated disc by themselves,
nor can anyone easily stop an asthma attack.
Investing also requires expert advice.
Please think about it once.
Also, to continue investing and grow your money, health comes first, so make sure to undergo the necessary health screenings and visits.
Doctors are reliable experts.
