"A column ongoing on Toyo Keizai ONLINE" You can profit again and again
Good morning, this is Matsushita.
Since a few days ago, I am writing my first-ever book on stocks.
Right now I am covering theories and analyses of price movements,
and I’m approaching a major turning point.
I will continue writing this manuscript after this.
It has become quite voluminous, which surprises me.
I have written five books so far,
and this will be my sixth.
These books are written without ghostwriters,
and I write all the raw manuscripts myself.
The book I’m currently writing
already exceeds 50,000 characters.
In the old days, it’s like 125 sheets of 400-character manuscript paper.
There is still a long way to go.
My investment approach is
actually very much reflected here.
It is the ability to put theory on paper.
To put trading rules on paper.
This is extremely important for making profits in investing.
Have you ever heard someone say that
a seminar lecturer or a charismatic trader
says it’s important to write things down on paper?
Have you heard that?
Probably not.
I have never heard of it.
But I believe that writing things down on paper is important.
Because if you cannot write it in words on paper,
If you can write it, then the theories and trading rules
have a concrete form as characters on paper,
and you can reproduce them as many times as needed, repeatedly earning profits.
Therefore I have been practicing investment by writing on paper for over ten years,
and I have been encouraging individual investors
to invest by writing on paper.
Can you write down what you know about investing,
what you have learned, and the reasons and rules for buying and selling
on paper?
If you can, continuing to do so will help you keep earning profits in the future.
If you cannot, years from now you are likely to
lose your funds and exit the market.
The investment I teach is one that can be written on paper,
so I can teach it, and you can repeatedly
continue to make profits.
As a concrete example,
today again I will write a manuscript for a book.
Please look forward to its completion.
ps
The first step to writing on paper is an “investment diary.”
Keep an investment diary, experience investing on paper, and
put it into practice.
