Stop-Limit Order Failure? Experience the Fear of No Fill with bitFlyer’s Tool!
Hello everyone, stop orders! The dare is plenty with BTCFX.@xi10jun1It is.
Bitcoin is rising again. I’ve been busier with my main job and event staff work, so I’m not keeping up at all…
And this time, as I mentioned, I experienced a fearsome event at the end of summer, so I will write about it here.
※Continuing from last time, there is an important notice for those who read this for a fee, so please read down to the bottom if you can.
※This column is designed so that half of it can be read for free, a humane design. Of course, if you read up to the paid portion (weekly updates for 400 yen per month, so about 80–100 yen per article), that would be very encouraging!
This Week’s Results (August 25, 2017 to August 31, 2017)

First, as usual, the results. I’ll announce the gains/losses first.
- Last week (through August 24, 2017) assets: 117,265 yen
- This week (through August 31, 2017) assets: 117,717 yen
- Change: +452 yen
It was barely positive.
There were many trades like loss → loss → loss → big profit, so my assets aren’t increasing as I hoped… I need to read the market more carefully.
Now, for this week’s column, as the title says, I’ll write about the fear of a stop order not triggering.
What is a stop order failure!?!
“Ahh, this is bad.”
I held a long position and stuck with it, but I had a bad feeling that the price was going to go down. I had a stop order in place, and if it hit my stop, I’d restart from there.
And then, in the next moment.

Huh? I’m seeing an unfamiliar display…

Oh nooooooo!
What is a failure, what is a failure!
What? What? What? No, aren’t you angry? Hasn’t the stop been executed? This is bad, bad, bad!
...
In the end, I closed manually, but the loss increased from the original amount…
Even though the market suddenly changed, is it possible for an order to fail?
If it’s a limit stop, I can understand, but it was a market stop order. It touched the price I instructed, so shouldn’t it be executed somehow?
Actually, I’ve encountered this situation several times before.
I’m wondering what to do about bitFlyer. I like the usability, but overall it’s slow and it leaves failed executions unresolved. Maybe I should switch…
Free Summary: Do not overtrust tools
You should not overtrust these kinds of tools yet. That’s why I want to roll over the position…
I’d welcome it if they charged more in fees, so they could invest more in development and servers.
Now, for this paid column, I’ll continue to focus on analysis of future market trends this week as well.
Regarding the paid column
Recently FX-on sent a notice about “Possibility of personal information leakage due to unauthorized access.” Accordingly, credit card payments may be temporarily unavailable, so paid portions of the column may not be accessible.
Therefore, for paid subscribers who use credit cards, please consider purchasing by convenience store payment or bank transfer instead.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Ending Corner 1: Let’s Try Shopping with Bitcoin!
In fact, on the overseas e-commerce site “FANCY,” you can purchase items using Bitcoin! It costs a bit for shipping, but you’ll find stylish items you won’t see in Japan!
I’ve summarized how to use FANCY on this blog, so please refer to this.

Ending Corner 2: How should you handle Bitcoin margin trading (BTCFX) tax filing?
You must properly declare BTCFX profits as well! I’ve written a blog post after confirming with the tax office by phone, so please refer to it.
Note that opinions can differ among tax offices and tax accountants. Also, laws can change, affecting how you declare. Before you file, be sure to confirm with your nearest tax office or a tax professional.
Note: The free content ends here. The rest contains detailed analysis and future outlook, so it is paid. If you want to read more, of course, you can support me as a donation-style subscription, which would be greatly motivating. Thank you for your continued support!
