“East Asia Economic Online” column now published. I have started writing the manuscript for a book about stocks.
Good morning, this is Matsushita.
Right now I am working on the manuscript for a book about stocks.
I’ve proposed this several times before,
but it didn’t come to fruition easily, and now at last
it seems we are on the path to making it a reality.
Until now, I have written five books.
The last time I dedicated myself to manuscript writing was
from the summer to autumn of 2011,
which was more than six years ago, a long time indeed.
Moreover, since this is my first stock market book,
I’m looking forward to writing it myself.
Having passed 16 years since I started investing,
I’ll do my best to write a book about stocks that I can convey to you now.
That kind of book, I will strive to write.
The table of contents is already complete,
and as a goal or plan,
I intend to write a manuscript of 150,000 characters.
Even though 150,000 characters may not seem like much,
it is the equivalent of 375 sheets of 400-character manuscript paper from the old days.
That sounds a bit overwhelming. (laughs)
When I first wrote a book in 2009,
I wondered if I could really write the manuscript,
but now I feel I can manage this 375 sheets of 400-character manuscript paper somehow,
and that I can make it work.
After becoming an investor/trader,
I can also become a writer.
Writing novels is not possible, but
I can write a book about investment know-how.
I was writing the manuscript yesterday as well,
and I had this idea to print the charts of 33 stocks on A4 paper,
lay them out on the room floor,
and observe them.
From those, I selected five sets, 11 sheets of charts,
and progressed with the manuscript.
I don’t want to give away spoilers, so
I’ll leave the content here for now, but
while writing the manuscript, I thought, “This book will be interesting.”
Since it’s a book I’m writing,
it will be unlike anything that has existed before,
a book that no one has written, I think it will be that kind of book.
To that extent, the writing part will be hard.
Because it’s original, there are parts where I create my own logic,
and those parts consume time and energy.
Today, after posting this column,
I will write the manuscript.
I hope you will enjoy it and
gain new and deeper understanding,
and take pleasure in it,
as I imagine bringing joy to you all, I will do my best.
Now, I’ll start writing the manuscript.
