Is the dollar’s decline against major currencies near its peak?
Since April began, the USD/JPY has consistently fallen. It is true that the rise in U.S. Treasury yields peaked at the end of March, but at the same time a technical adjustment phase has begun and should not be overlooked.
The USD/JPY capped at its March-end high of 110.97 yen, largely due to the presence of the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo monthly cloud. Currently, the lower bound of the monthly cloud sits around 110.14 yen, and as prices rise toward this level, they are likely to face resistance and pull back temporarily.
Also, it is worth noting that the rise from the January low to the March high appears to have completed an Elliott Wave “five-wave impulse” at that high. In other words, since April, one can see a corrective wave forming. (Further content requires paid access.)
