“East Economic Online” column now掲載中: Tips to make investing enjoyable
Good morning, this is Matsushita.
“Is investing fun?”
If someone asks you this, how would you answer?
Probably many individual investors
do not find investing enjoyable.
Because more than 80% of investors
are losing money,
those who are losing are feeling the pain every day.
I meet many investors every year,
and some of them enjoy investing even while losing money.
This is something to think about a bit.
Even if you are losing some,
it may be true that it’s fine because it’s enjoyable, but
deep in their hearts, they want to “make profits,”
and this person, too,
should, while they’re at it, aim to make a profit
and enjoy it.
Now, in this way, many investors
are not able to enjoy investing,
but they think that if profits come someday
investing will become enjoyable.
Unfortunately, this is not exactly true.
Investing becomes enjoyable
not because profits rise, but
because understanding of investing deepens,
and you begin to understand many things.
For example, why stock prices rise,
why only certain assets (currencies) drop and adjust,
the reasons you yourself lost money and why your trades
succeeded or failed, and so on, as things happening in front of you
become more understandable, it becomes enjoyable.
And after investing becomes enjoyable for a while,
profits begin to rise, and it becomes even more enjoyable.
At this point, you look forward to checking charts every day,
and you look forward to logging into your trading account.
“Where will the next profit come from?”
This is the mindset with which you approach daily investing.
Investing becomes enjoyable because you understand more.
As you understand more, you’ll have a higher chance of making profits,
and eventually profits will start to rise,
and investing will become even more enjoyable.
This is the virtuous circle of investing
and the cycle of success.
Would you like to try enjoying investing?
Would you like to enjoy investing and see profits rise?
To that end, it may hurt your ears, but
please study and broaden your understanding.
Increase what you understand.
If you do, it will become enjoyable.
Profits will come closer.
There is enjoyable investing, so
keep learning without giving up.
