【Fujitomi】Nikkei 225 declines slow as Bank of Japan conducts second ETF purchase of the month
The Nikkei Stock Average ended with a small rebound for the first time in three trading days, rising 4 yen 72 sen (0.02%) to 19,984.62 yen. With expectations of Bank of Japan ETF purchases and a pause in the appreciating yen, there were moments when the Nikkei exceeded the important threshold of 20,000. On the other hand, ahead of the UK general election on the 8th, the ECB policy meeting, and former FBI Director Comey's testimony to Congress, the market seemed to have limited upside.
The TOPIX also closed up slightly, rising 0.65 points (0.04%) to 1,597.09. The daily trading value on the Tokyo Stock Exchange First Section was 2.3239 trillion yen, with a trading volume of 1.7817 billion shares. The number of rising stocks on the First Section was 1,150, falling stocks 693, and unchanged 174.
Large crosses in ETFs were observed in off-hours trading. It appears that the Bank of Japan conducted its second ETF purchase of the month. The TOPIX in the first half-day closed down 0.26%.
