Weekend.
Today I felt no urge to look at the market in the morning due to fatigue from yesterday's outing. Pushing into the market under such conditions seldom leads to good results. At best, I might place a wrong order. I’m still tired even now.
As of last night, it was expected that the Tokyo market today would see a pullback after this week's rise.
In the end, after past 2:00, I started thinking I might try it, turned on the PC at 2:26 PM, but could not connect to the Internet. Restarting the router fixed the connection.
Looking at the 5-minute chart, the movement was roughly as expected, with a rebound and a sense that it was aiming for 19,900.
At this point, all Range Options and One-Touch Options were locked at 100 or 0, so there was nothing to buy.
The cloud turned and the upper bound of the 52 Bollinger Band began to cap the upside, so I entered a 19,900 ladder short.
I hoped to hold until the end if possible, but the market did not fall much, stopping near the vicinity of the Leading Span 2. The Conversion Line and Base Line were rising, and it stopped a little above the Conversion Line, so I cut it midway. I managed to gain the roughly 15 points typical for scalping, which is fine. Before close, technical indicators can behave unexpectedly, either rising suddenly or being taken out in the last 15 seconds. Since I was counter-trading in a mid-term uptrend, quitting promptly was the right move. By the way, while holding a ladder option short position, the Nikkei index fell only about 13 points.
In terms of results alone, it was a market that could have been exited with automatic settlement to a win.
