FX trading starts from daily life with a mindset that avoids irritation: "The past and others cannot be changed; what can be changed is yourself and the future"
Hello! I am Takashi, a psychology counselor.
Just having qualifications as a psychological counselor does not mean I am doing counseling work.
This time,a way of thinking that does not irritateis what I’m talking about,
If you’re always irritated, it’s not good for your body,
and it also has a negative impact on trading, so it would be nice to improve it.
For example, if you’re kept waiting and someone arrives late, aren’t you irritated? Aren’t you angry?
How can you avoid getting irritated?
“If the other person hadn’t been late, it would be fine.”
That’s one way to think about it, but you can’t control others to go your way.
The past and other people cannot be changed; what can be changed is yourself and the future
by Canadian psychiatrist and psychologist Eric Berne
Accept what you cannot control (give up on it) and direct your attention to the parts you can control.
This is an important mindset not only in trading but in life in general.
First, anticipate that lateness can happen.
The price movements are the same.
They always go up or down. No matter which way they move, plan how you will respond in a way that is as you expect.
Haven’t you thought like this?
“If something like this happens (for example, if I’m late), anyone would get angry!”
No, some people get angry and some do not.
Emotions are not determined by events alone.
Event → Anger
instead of
Event → Belief (beliefs, fixed ideas) → Result (emotional or behavioral response)
Events themselves are neutral to begin with.
The presence of beliefs causes, when anger arises, to interpret the “neutral event” as an “angry event” (to observe it).
Beliefs differ from person to person, so the resulting emotions or reactions differ as well.
Events cannot be changed, nor can you control them as you wish.
However, the Belief that lies between the event and the result (emotional or behavioral response) is something you can change.
This is one perspective in psychotherapy.
People who frequently get angry in daily life do not have many anger-inducing events happening around them.
The cause lies in their own Belief, which can be improved through psychotherapy counseling and other methods.
More details about psychotherapy will be introduced in blogs and videos in the future.
