【Fujitomi】Nikkei average rises for the third day in a row; valuation appeal emerges, but risk-off mood continues
The Nikkei 225 stock average extended its gains for a third day, closing at 18,432.20 yen, up 13.61 yen (0.07%) from the previous day. With geopolitical risks such as North Korea tensions and ahead of France's presidential election and the UK general election, European political risk is being priced in. The ratio of advances to declines (TSE First Section, 25-day moving average) was about 71% as of yesterday, below 80%, and the market saw a rising view that stocks were oversold. There were observed purchases by institutional investors attracted by pension fund inflows and undervaluation, which provided some support. However, due to geopolitical risks and European political risk, a risk-averse environment that tends to strengthen the yen remained likely to continue.
TOPIX closed down by 0.11 point (0.01%) at 1,471.42. The turnover on the Tokyo Stock Exchange First Section was 2.3172 trillion yen, surpassing 2 trillion yen for the first time in three trading days, and trading volume was 1,952.91 million shares. The number of rising stocks on the TSE First Section was 1,043, falling 820, with 152 unchanged.
