【Fujitomi】Nikkei average rebounds for the first time in four days, supported by BOJ ETF purchases
The Nikkei Stock Average rebounded for the first time in four trading days, finishing at 19,085.31 yen, up 43.93 yen (0.23%) from the previous day. Although the index recovered after slipping below 19,000 yen and showed some firmness, the impression was that there was limited upside given expectations for Bank of Japan ETF purchases and the recent large declines. The Tokyo Stock Exchange market mood grew cautious ahead of tonight’s U.S. discussion of ObamaCare (the health care reform law). In the market, there is a view that unless an ObamaCare alternative passes, the Trump administration cannot begin tax reform, which attracted attention. When hearings were held on issues such as the national land acquisition by Moritomo Gakuen at committee meetings of both houses, there were observed moments of weakness, but the impact was limited. TOPIX rebounded for the first time in four trading days, ending at 1,530.41, up 0.21 points (0.01%).
TSE First Section trading value was 2,190.5 billion yen, with a trading volume of 1.75963 billion shares. The number of advancing stocks in the First Section was 824, declines 1,037, and unchanged 149.
