[Go/No-Go Decision] The reason why those who only think about "whether to enter" on the 1-minute gold chart end up pressing in each time, with no hesitation criteria, is that there are none
There is a concept in aviation called a go/no-go decision, where you decide before departure whether to go or to wait. You check fuel, weather, and the aircraft’s condition in a fixed order, and if any one condition does not meet the criteria, you wait. It’s a procedure to verify there isn’t a reason to proceed before looking for reasons to go.
Many people who hesitate on a gold chart with 1-minute or 5-minute intervals think in the reverse order. They look at the moving chart and only consider “where to enter,” pressing the order without having a criterion to wait. For example, when a large bullish candle suddenly appears, they jump in without deciding where to cut losses.
There can always be enough reasons to enter
On short time-frame gold, price moves fast, and if you look hard enough, you can find plenty of reasons to enter. The more indicators you add, the more it seems that one of them is saying “enter.”
The problem is that no matter how many reasons to go you find, there isn’t a place to verify reasons to stop. Without a standard to wait for, your judgment will unconsciously tilt toward entering. The reason your hesitation doesn’t disappear isn’t a lack of data, but the absence of a door to choose no-go.
Make three doors your pre-departure checks
The Gold Trade Navigator is an MT5-only indicator designed for XAUUSD on 1-minute and 5-minute charts. The three points you check on the screen can be applied directly as your pre-departure checks.
Three checks before departure
- Has the candle that confirms the signal been marked (buy is below the candle, sell is above. Just wait until it appears)
- Do you see the line for the entry price and the color bands for stop loss and take profit levels 1–3
- Is the gold “Attention” not shown on the “Market Condition” panel
The third role is to serve as the no-go. When trading ease is indicated as “Attention” or trading cost is “High,” it will alert in gold, making it easier to choose to pass this time. The screen will show simple words like “Buy,” “Sell,” and “High/Medium/Low.”
Even the number of times you hesitated is part of the procedure
In go/no-go decisions, hesitation is not a failure but the result of following the procedure. Wait for the confirmation mark, and if a warning appears, pass. Counting how many times you were able to adhere to this can be a meaningful measure of your own progress. When a signal is confirmed, you’ll be notified by sound and message, so you don’t need to monitor the screen continuously.
Note that this tool is a display aid to help with trading decisions. It does not perform automatic trading, nor does it guarantee profits. The panel’s performance is derived from past charts and may differ from actual trading results. There is also a risk of substantial losses in gold trading. In the end, you are the one who makes the go/no-go decision.
Summary
- Before looking for reasons to go, check for reasons not to go
- Use three doors—mark, color band, and market condition—to verify
- The gold “Attention” can signal you to pass
- The number of times you hesitated also becomes a feeling of having followed the procedure
