【Bollinger Bands】After measuring 108 ways to catch a dip, I lost all of them
Hello, I’m Naoto. Today’s topic is Bollinger Bands.
I once tested a method I saw in a video by turning it into an EA and measuring it.
Decide the trend by the direction of the long moving average, and even if the price goes outside the band, don’t enter right away. Wait for it to be pushed back to the central line, and if it breaks outside the band again, enter. The stop loss is the lowest point of the pullback.
In the video, there were several clean winning trades shown.
When you watch, you feel like it might work.
So I counted properly.
From 2018 to 2026, euro-dollar, dollar-yen, and pound-dollar on the 15-minute chart. Decide after the candle closes, enter at the open of the next candle. The spread is from actual records.
By combining the width of the bands, the length and type of moving averages, and the method of exiting, there are 36 variations. Across three currency pairs, a total of 108 variations.
