Fair Value Settlement is a magic
Chart reading, commentary, comprehension, and verbalization
The Magic of Break-even Settlement
It was positive once.
I held it, thinking it would still rise.
Before I knew it, the price came back, and in the end I cut at a loss.
Ending a profitable trade with a loss.
There is no defeat more painful than this.
And if you repeat this kind of loss,
next time you’ll only take profits as soon as it slightly rises,
and profits will stop growing altogether.
This loss can be erased with a single action.
That is, break-even settlement.

▶ Against the trend? Huh? Trading at that level?
This explains why a position reverses immediately after entry. If you are being stopped out before moving to break-even, first reassess your entry point.

See if it applies to you
□ I ended up with a loss after being positive
□ I watched gains shrink and did nothing
□ I get scared it might come back, so I take profits early
□ I haven’t decided when or where to move the cut
If two or more apply, this article is for you.
What is break-even settlement
Break-even (tatenē) meansthe price at which you entered
Break-even settlement is moving the stop to the entry price.
Doing this means that, even if the price returns, there will be no loss or profit, ending at "zero."
※There may be a minor negative due to spreads or rapid price movement.
When to move to break-even
This is the most important part.
You don’t move it just because it “somehow rose.”
If it expands by the same amount as your initial stop, move the stop to break-even.
For example, if your initial stop is 30 pips wide,
move the stop to break-even when the entry has moved 30 pips in your favor.
When you first set the stop,
the place to move to break-even is already decided.
There is nothing to decide after you enter.
Why is it a “magic”
The moment you move it to break-even, the trade becomes
from a “trade that could lose” to
a trade that won’t lose anymore.
When you don’t have to worry about losing,
the fear of “it might come back” vanishes.
Because fear disappears, you stop taking profits too early.
Stop taking profits too early, and profits grow.
With just one operation, the essence of trading changes.
That’s why it’s “magic.”

・How a profitable trade is safeguarded after moving to break-even
・What not to do before moving to break-even
Who this video suits

・People who have not decided when to move the stop
From here on, a video using real charts will provide careful explanations.
Explanatory video
Note: points of the video
・Break-even means the entry price
・Move the stop to break-even when the price rises by the same amount as the initial stop
・The place to move to break-even is decided at the time you set the stop
・If you move to break-even, you will no longer end profitable trades in the red
Summary: when you enter, confirm only two things
1. How many pips is the stop width
2. Where is the place that rises by that width
If you can say these two things before entering,
you will no longer end a positive trade in the red.
Finally
Ending a profitable trade with a stop move to cut is not because your judgment was poor.
It’s simply that there was no rule for moving the stop.
Move to break-even when it has risen by the same amount as the stop width.
That alone will drastically change the fear in trading.
So, after moving to break-even, where should you take profits?
That will be explained in the next article “Take-profit Point? Tell me.” It’s also free to read.
▶ Take-profit Point? Tell me? (Free)
After moving to break-even, chase the low of the 5-minute chart to extend profits. Read this article together with the previous one to connect the process from entry to settlement.

The concepts in this article can be applied to other currency pairs besides GOLD.
Also, the same applies to selling (if the price falls the same amount as the stop from entry, move to break-even).
However, each instrument has different price movement and trading conditions, so the same result is not guaranteed.
Thank you for reading until the end.
