I melted my funds on information products, and how I reached gold — Interview with GoGoJyan representative Hayakawa, Part 1
Hello, this is Investmentro from FX Logic Laboratory.
This time, I had the opportunity to have a discussion on YouTube with Mr. Hayakawa, the representative of Gogojan.
In the first episode, I talk about my journey from being a losing trader to the trades I am currently pursuing in gold and USD/JPY.
I have summarized that content in my own words in this article.
The long detour of my losing-trader days
I started trading more than a decade ago, around the time when Abenomics was beginning to unfold.
At that time, I was still living in Japan. It wasn’t a time when EAs, educational materials, and tools were readily available as they are now.
So what I did was buy up information products and tools with weak foundations, one after another. The result was a start that melted away my capital.
After that, I remained a losing trader for a long time.
I also wandered far off by trying binary options in the meantime.
A turning point was being driven to a point where I could no longer buy
What turned the tide wasn’t meeting a mentor, nor a specific教材.
When I was buying up information products, my perspective had become very narrow.
Then I was financially squeezed and could not buy anything at all.
That finally made me stop and decide to relearn the markets from scratch.
I read information from overseas and Japan and learned how so-called institutional investors trade.
From there, I gradually started to win more often.
Looking back, the answer was not the “next product,” but within “the market itself.”
What I would most recommend now is scalping gold
What I currently recommend the most is scalping gold.
People used to say that “gold’s price movement is too volatile for beginners.”
But when you actually engage with it, the large price movement can be an advantage as well.
Compared to currency pairs like USD/JPY, the waiting time until a favorable entry point is shorter.
For a part-time trader, waiting for entry points within a limited time can be an unexpected pitfall.
If you can’t wait, you end up entering in weakly supported areas. I’ve experienced this many times.
With gold, the opportunities come without much waiting.
It is a suitable instrument even for part-time traders who have limited time.
Even if it looks difficult, if you focus on gold, I feel the market’s quirks become easier to grasp.
The “milestone lines” that many traders watch
Besides gold, I regularly focus on USD/JPY’s “milestone lines.”
I look at lines such as the following:
- Daily high, low, open, and close
- Key numbers like 145, 150, 155 (round numbers)
These are lines that many traders are conscious of.
They often bounce off here or in an uptrend, support the rise with these lines behind them.
Watching these lines makes the essence of market movements feel tangible.
Even just being aware of milestone lines in USD/JPY, a currency familiar to Japanese traders, can certainly increase the basis for daily trading.
This thinking is also applied to gold as well.
In addition to round numbers and the daily four-price values, I also pay attention to the range lines during the Asia and New York sessions.
Gold has a tendency to react well at such milestone levels.
