There is a word in psychology called the “primacy effect.” It refers to the tendency for information received first to leave a stronger memory and even influence how subsequent things are perceived.

Let’s think about gold 1-minute scalping. For example, if the first instance of the day ends with an X. Even though it’s only one result, in your head you’re likely to conclude, “Today is a day when things don’t click.” If that happens, you enter the next arrow with doubt, you can’t wait for the stated exit and close it by hand, or you pass up setups that meet the conditions. The rest of the trades are dragged by that initial X.

Conversely, if the first is a circle (〇), you might feel it’s going well and become lax in confirmation. In both cases, the initial result becomes the reference for judgment, not the market in front of you.

Ways to reset to blank after each trade

What’s important is to view the second arrow separately from the first result. Gold moves a lot, so the impression from the first trade can linger strongly. Therefore, if you place your judging ruler on the screen rather than feeling, your mindset will feel much more relaxed.
