What Morning Fog Hunter is
In short,“Buy when there is a pullback for one hour every morning”A Gold (XAUUSD) dedicated EA.
Moves only for one hour
From 16:00 to 17:00 New York time. In Japan time, during daylight saving, it is around 5:00, and during standard time, around 6:00. The remaining 23 hours, nothing is done.
Buy only. No averaging down, no martingale
Only buys on pullbacks right after a decline. Stop loss is always set at the time of purchase. It is not used to compound unrealized losses.
Small profits, large losses
Profit-taking at +2 dollars (20 pips), stop-loss at −20 dollars (200 pips). Holding period is up to 72 hours, at most.
In Gold EA, a concept like “one hour every morning” is rare. It differs from the alchemy series that sticks with averaging down. The first of the same “Golden Guardians Series,”The Keeper of the Daily Charthas different active times and price movement types.
When to buy
Within the one-hour window, you buy at the moment any of the following three conditions is met.
①Below the average by a larger margin: At the start of the period, when price is significantly below the near-term average. After the start, the moment price decisively breaks below the average.
②RSI breaks to the downside: The moment RSI breaks below the oversold threshold.
③New low compared to the recent low: The moment price falls below a previous low.
Only one of these conditions can be held at a time, up to three positions in total. The maximum number of new entries per day is five. The exact numeric values are fixed inside the EA and cannot be changed by parameters. Adjustable items are limited to server time, operation days of the week, lot size, and maximum spread, etc.
“Mon–Thu” in Japan time is “Tue–Fri early morning”
The initial setting for operating days isMon, Tue, Wed, Thu (New York time)Friday is off. 16:00 in New York corresponds to the next morning in Japan. Therefore, in Japan time, it will move in the early morning fromTuesday to Friday.
This week's small note
Daylight saving time in the U.S. ends on November 1. Therefore, the operating times in Japan will shift by one hour from around 5:00 to 6:00. The EA automatically converts from server time. However, if your broker’s server time change method (US style or EU style) differs from the initial setting, there may be a one-hour window shift for a few weeks in autumn. When you start the EA, the Expert tab logs will show server time and New York time. Please check whether the New York time matches the current time.
A quick look at backtest results
In about eight years of backtest (Jan 2019–Oct 2026) with the default settings, the results were:
※ Yen-denominated account, initial margin 1,000,000 JPY, leverage 1:1000, historical data quality 99%. The lot size was calculated automatically under a risk-based method. These results are based on past data and do not guarantee future performance.
A 94% win rate is not a safety guarantee
Profit-taking is +2 dollars, stop-loss is −20 dollars. In other words, one loss wipes out about eight wins.We call this type a “diligent-but-blown-up” method, and we clearly state it on the product page. We also know that the number of stop-outs can vary greatly from year to year, from 3 to 26 times. We will explain this in detail next time.
What we want to observe in the forward test
Backtesting reflects past results. How it actually moves in real market conditions will be verified moving forward. The official forward test will examine the following points:
①How many buys happen within one hour in practice
②How long it takes to reach the take-profit (+2 dollars)
③Whether stop-loss behavior matches the backtest when a loss occurs
④Whether waiting occurs during the morning when spreads widen
Both successes and failures will be communicated honestly. We will share progress in this series. This series' future

Thank you for reading until the end. Next time, we will discuss the most important topic: risk.
