【The USD/JPY falls nearly 2 yen】 The reason I don’t go short even so
Dollar/yen dropped sharply from the 158 range to the 156 range.
When I see this kind of market, honestly I think this.
“If I had been short (selling), I could have made a large profit…”
But I won’t go short.
? Why don’t I sell even when it goes down?
In the past I did both long (buy) and short (sell).
If I buy thinking it will rise, it goes down.
If I panic and sell, it goes up next time.
That’s what you’d call “a back-and-forth beating.”
After experiencing it many times, I learned something.
Increasing chances doesn’t necessarily mean you will win.
? I asked three geniuses
? A: Ultra-optimistic
“Such a big drop is a chance! If I short, I can aim for profits!”
? B: Ultra-cautious
“Selling after a sharp drop is dangerous. It could rebound suddenly and cause big losses!”
? C: A different perspective
“Do you really have to win on every price movement?”
This C’s opinion resonates with me the most right now.
✅ The rules I’ve set
Essentially only long USD/JPY
Wait until an uptrend forms
3–4 carefully selected trades per month
Always set a stop loss
In a down market, there are days when you can’t enter at all.
But that’s fine.
? Finally
In this drop, people who were short might have made large profits.
But I won’t chase that.
What’s important in FX isn’t taking every opportunity, but choosing only the moments when you can truly compete.
Opportunities do not necessarily come again. Even so, I prioritize not risking capital on impossible bets.
Survive no matter what.
From now on as well, I will trade without forgetting that feeling.
Do you aim for both long and short, or just one side?
