Difference between those who can continue and those who quit
Series 9 | Changing Life Through Trading #6
The Difference Between People Who Can Keep Going and People Who Quit
Hello, this is THE DAYTRADE.
There are many people who start trading. But only a small portion continue after a year.
So, what makes the difference between those who can keep going and those who quit?
My answer is,not talent or intelligence. The difference lies in more mundane things. This time, I will write about five differences.
1. Do you view losses as “failure” or as “data”?
People who quittake losses as “I am worthless.” When losses continue, confidence fades and you stop.
People who can keep goingsee losses as “data.” If you entered according to the rules and lost, that is a normal loss within the method. If you broke the rules and lost, you’ve found something to fix.
Even the same loss can change your next step depending on how you take it.
2. Do you look at “today’s result” or “today’s action”?
People who quitswing with daily profits and losses. If you win, you feel good; if you lose, you feel down. Your mood is driven by the market.
People who can keep goingas written in #4, reflect on whether you acted according to the rules today. You cannot control profits and losses, but you can control actions. Therefore, your mood stays stable.
3. Do you aim for perfection or aim to prevent breaks?
People who quittry to do everything perfectly from the start. Two hours of analysis daily, meticulous records, checking every time frame. And if you can’t do it for one day, you quit, thinking “I’m done.”
People who can keep goingas written in #3, prioritize “not letting it break.” On tiring days, even just one line of records is fine. Not letting it become zero is the most important thing.
4. Do you switch methods often or deepen one?
People who quitwhen a few losses occur, think “this method is bad” and go look for a new method. New indicators, new methods, new automated trading. But since you don’t master any, nothing remains.
People who can keep goingdeepen one method. In my case, Dow Theory and Multi-Time Frame (4H→1H→5M). Repeating the same perspective hundreds of times reduces hesitation.
5. Do you shoulder it alone or have a place to ask for help?
People who quitbear it alone when confused. Without asking anyone, you stay stuck in the same place and lose motivation.
People who can keep goinghave a place to ask. People to ask questions to, and peers heading in the same direction. If there’s a place to return to when you’re lost, you can stop and then start moving again.
What to do today
Among the five differences, select exactly one that is closest to you being a “person who quits”.
And this week, try to shift that one toward the “person who can keep going.” You don’t need to change everything at once. One at a time is enough.
Summary
The difference between people who keep going and those who quit is not about talent.
- View losses as “data”
- Look at actions rather than results
- Not perfection, but “not letting it break”
- Deepen one method rather than changing methods
- Have a place to ask, not shoulder it alone
All of these are things you can choose starting today. Seek correctness over win rate. And build yourself who can keep doing the right thing.
