Crypto Asset Market Analysis (October 20)
The cryptocurrency market seems to have paused after last month’s rally, with no major moves yet. However, upon reviewing the major news, it is clear that regulation around cryptocurrencies, especially for stablecoin payments and trading demand, is increasing.
The main chain is Ethereum. Other notable mentions include Solana (SOL) in RWA.

■ Today’s movements and primary drivers
The current-day trends for the major assets in the crypto market are as follows.
・Bitcoin (BTC): trading around $81,300–$81,500. The 24-hour change is a small decline of roughly -0.5% to -1.4%, with occasional rebounds near $81,400 during trading hours.

・Ethereum (ETH): trading around $2,380–$2,390. Over the past 24 hours, down roughly -0.9% to -1.6%, showing slightly softer sentiment than Bitcoin.
Ethereum daily chart
・Other major currencies: Solana (SOL) around $104, Ripple (XRP) around $1.29–$1.30,overall market range being broadly flat to slightly downwith some signs of temporary gains in certain names such as Binance Coin (BNB).
Main drivers of price movements:
In Asian stock markets, Korea’s KOSPI index dropped sharply by 3.73%. Concerns over the profitability of large semiconductor stocks like SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics, amid massive capex in AI-related fields, led to strong selling pressureprimarily on these semiconductor giants. This Asian stock sell-off amplified a global risk-off mood, with US stock futures such as Nasdaq futures sliding slightly, which cooled sentiment in the crypto market.
In the crypto derivatives and options market, put options, which protect against downside risk, have been rising and outpacing calls, indicating growing caution and a conservative stance among investors about the future.
On the other hand, in US Bitcoin spot ETF markets on Oct 19 (Monday), there was a large net inflow not seen in about a month (plus $526.6 million). In particular, net inflows into BlackRock’s IBIT totaled $665.2 million, helping to support Bitcoin prices against equity market declines. However, external factors such as ongoing stock market weakness continued to weigh on upside movement.
The market’s sentiment indicator, the “Fear & Greed Index,” sits around 55, in the “Neutral” zone leaning toward “Greed.” While not extremely pessimistic, market conditions remain defensive and cautious.
■ Price trends and market environment since last week
Last week (roughly Oct 12–Oct 18), the crypto market generally faced heavy headwinds with a soft, corrective tone.
・Bitcoin (BTC) trajectory: weekly decline of about -1.5% to -3.2%. Early in the week there were buy-ups near $83,000–$84,000, but by mid-week selling pressure pushed BTC below $80,000 to around $79,950–$80,100, the lowest in about a month. Afterward, dips were bought, and prices recovered back to the $81,000s.
・Ethereum (ETH) trajectory: fell more than Bitcoin, with a weekly decline of roughly -4% to -7%, showing relative weakness. ETH’s share of total crypto market cap (dominance) also trended lower.
・Causes of the decline and macro environment: inflation indicators such as CPI released in the US exceeded market expectations, reigniting concerns about prolonged monetary tightening and potential rate hikes by the Fed. In addition to prior outflows from spot ETFs, rising geopolitical risks and oil price uncertainty cooled investor sentiment. Bitcoin emerged as a safer destination, with Bitcoin dominance rising to around 60%, highlighting a risk-off regime where funds move from altcoins to Bitcoin. The ongoing risk-off environment increased demand for BTC as a refuge.
In sum, Bitcoin traded within the $80,000–$84,000 range and remained highly sensitive to macro indicators like inflation and interest rates.
■ Bitcoin spot ETF fund inflows/outflows (last roughly 1 week)
Daily net flows (in/out) for US spot Bitcoin ETFs:
・Oct 12: -$65.4 million
・Oct 13: +$175.6 million
・Oct 14: -$261.5 million
・Oct 15: +$5.1 million
・Oct 16: -$82.4 million
For the week Oct 12–16, net outflows were about -$228–$230 million, marking two consecutive weeks of outflows.
However, there was a shift at the start of the new week.
・Oct 19 (Mon): +$526.6 million, a large inflow not seen in about a month. BlackRock’s IBIT contributed +$665.2 million, while Fidelity’s FBTC saw -$83.6 million outflow, indicating selective flows by issuers.
Over the last five trading days, net inflows totaled around +$363.4 million. For October overall, intraday flows have been highly volatile, with some calling for an overall outflow for the month, but Monday’s record inflow significantly improved the flow environment. Note that Ethereum spot ETF outflows continued during the same period, with a net outflow of about -$103 million on Monday, highlighting a divergence between BTC and ETH spot ETFs.
■ Notable altcoin trends
Altcoins overall underperformed Bitcoin, and the Altcoin Season Index remains in a neutral, not-overheated zone. Nevertheless, notable movements include:
・Privacy coins: Monero (XMR): up about +13% this week, showing strong momentum. Today it rose roughly +2%–+4%, breaking through the $600 level. In addition to favorable technicals like a rotation into privacy coins and testing near the $600 resistance, news of major network upgrades provides further upside catalysts.
・Arbitrum (ARB): up about +6%–+10% recently.Arbitrum Foundation’s new “Stablecoin Growth Program” has been a strong positive. It is an incentive program related to the stablecoin USDG, providing a total ARB 2 million prize pool to the first 10 teams that participate. Today there was some short-term profit-taking and a minor pullback.
・Other coins: Worldcoin (WLD) rose about +7%–+8% today, while NEAR fell more than -6%, illustrating mixed performances across coins. Among small-to-mid-cap names, Beam showed notable price action, but overall major altcoins lack a clear direction.
■ Market wrap-up and future outlook
Today’s crypto market declined slightly as Asia’s stock markets, notably AI and semiconductor related stocks, fell—though substantial inflows into the US spot BTC ETF provided price support. The global macro risk-off environment continues to cap upside. Last week, BTC briefly tested below $80,000, with Ethereum showing relatively greater weakness. In altcoins, standout performances came from XMR, with strong individual interest, and ARB, which announced ecosystem expansion initiatives.
■ Major news in the crypto and blockchain industry
・Trump’s plan to distribute SpaceX stocks

Musk says this is only the first step and bigger deployments are planned. SpaceX is projected to reach a market cap of $100 trillion within the next decade, drawing significant attention.
・Arthur Hayes’ AI bubble burst and Bitcoin surge forecast
Arthur Hayes, a renowned billionaire investor, argued that when the AI bubble bursts, Bitcoin’s price will surge dramatically. He notes that much current AI investment is wasteful, and that many tech firms like Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceX currently lack sufficient profits and are effectively supported by US government aid and favorable financial conditions. He adds that as the AI ecosystem inflates and government and central bank rescue measures expand, fiat currency value becomes diluted, ultimately driving capital to Bitcoin and pushing its price higher.
・BNB Chain’s 37th Auto-Burn completed
Binance’s BNB Chain completed its 37th quarterly Auto-Burn. Approximately 1,646,000 BNB (worth about $1 billion) were permanently removed from the market, reducing circulating supply. The burn amount auto-calculates based on BNB price and block generation, aiming to compress total supply to 100 million BNB. BNB has historically reached new highs during past bull markets, making this a notable event for future scarcity. This is a key event for increasing scarcity..
・Fidelity Digital’s latest on-chain BTC signal analysis
Fidelity Digital reports that the latest technical on-chain signals for Bitcoin are significant beyond mere price moves, suggesting further upside potential. Specifically, positive market momentum, medium-to-long-term price trends, and stable low-volatility levels align to support further gains.
・Tesla (TSLA) tokenized stock rise and earnings expectations
Tesla’s tokenized stock (on-chain) rose about +4% in the last 24 hours and trades around $376.69. The rally is supported by Tesla’s unveiling of the next-generation Roadster at a Texas event, featuring a SpaceX cold-gas thruster as part of dramatic demonstrations. With Q3 deliveries exceeding expectations (market forecast 486,532 units), investor optimism remains high ahead of the October 21 earnings announcement.
