[Behind the Scenes] The reason for separating order payment operations and information display.
Hello, I am Meister.
This time, I would like to share a few behind-the-scenes notes about the development of SmartOrderProEA and MarketPanel.
■ Should we cram everything into an EA for order operations?
When developing tools, features tend to multiply: I want to display this, I want to enable checks on that, and so on.
Especially during trading, it’s convenient to be able to confirm profit and loss and various information at a glance for the held positions.
However, when I developed SmartOrderProEA, I deliberately focused it on order and settlement operations.
The reason is simple.
I want to concentrate the necessary functions for order operations within the EA that handles order operations.
Rather than stuffing all information displays into one screen, separating their roles aligned better with the design I had in mind.
Of course, having a lot of display features isn’t inherently bad. What to prioritize is a matter of perspective that varies among developers.
■ Still, there is information you absolutely want to confirm
Even though we specialize in order and settlement operations, there is essential information in actual trading.
One of them is the unrealized profit or loss for currently held positions.
A screen for placing orders and information displays to check the holding status.
Both are necessary, but they do not necessarily need to be in the same place.
Thus, the information display is handled by the custom indicatorMarketPanel.
SmartOrderProEAhandles order and settlement operations, and MarketPanel handles information displays such as prices, spreads, and held positions.
By assigning distinct roles to each, we avoid cluttering the operation screen with information.
■ Think about the necessary roles rather than a big panel
A panel that fills the entire screen has the advantage of summarizing the needed information for quick confirmation.
On the other hand, I aim to increase the chart’s information volume without overdoing it, and to enable viewing only what is necessary in the right places.
Order operations are for placing orders; information confirmation is for checking information.
It’s not about prioritizing one over the other; it’s about clarifying each role.
Of course, this is my own development philosophy and not necessarily the correct approach for all traders.
However, because it is a tool to be used for a long time, I value not only adding features but also what not to add.
■ Two roles in one environment
SmartOrderProEA focuses on order and settlement operations, and MarketPanel handles information displays such as prices, spreads, and unrealized profit or loss for held positions.
Although developed as separate roles, considering real-world usage, these two are easier to understand when combined in a way that reflects the design intent.
Therefore, this time I packaged MarketPanel, which is normally sold separately, together for free with the SmartOrderProEA distribution file.

What you need for order operations goes in the EA; information you want to confirm goes in the indicator.
Instead of cramming everything into one, we separate the roles to create an environment suitable for discretionary trading.
From now on, I would like to continue development with that mindset.
Thank you for reading to the end.
