Don't be swayed by short-term noise! A strategy-building technique to quickly grasp the 'environment' with MTF (multi-time frame)
In a past article about the ongoing series, I talked about “intelligently narrowing the drawing range” to lighten the indicator’s operation (link to MTf MA article).
This time, I will discuss the “MTF Pivot” created by directly incorporating that lightweight design philosophy, and also the “MTF ZigZag.” and “MTF ZigZag”.
I’m going to talk about “a method to grasp the overall picture instantly without being misled by execution-bar noise and to formulate a strategy.”
1. Why do you lose if you only look at short-term bars (execution bars)?
When you trade mainly on shorter timeframes like 5-minute or 15-minute bars,
your attention is inevitably pulled toward small, immediate price movements (noise).
As a result of jumping in because “it rose strongly, so buy!” or “it plunged, so sell!”,
many of us have experienced the failure of being right before a strong resistance line (wall) on a higher timeframe…
First and foremost, it is crucial to objectively understand “what kind of environment the market is in right now.”
2. Grasp the structure and the walls of higher timeframes at a glance
What helps here is the MTF (multi-timeframe) information displayed layered on top of the short-term chart.
Capture the “wave structure” with MTF ZigZagIt smooths out the tiny fluctuations of the short term and reveals the larger waves of the higher timeframes (H1, H4, etc.) in a single clear line.
This makes it visually intuitive to grasp whether the current move is a pullback in an uptrend or a move within a range.
Capture the “future walls” with MTF PivotBy displaying a Pivot that narrows the drawing range to the latest future direction, the key levels (targets) that higher timeframes are watching become clearly visible in front of you.
3. Build strategy from “situation awareness” rather than the “holy grail (method)”
Tools and indicators are not the Holy Grail that provides entry signals. They are, at best, a cockpit that organizes the foundation (environment) for trading.
- Use MTF ZigZag to confirm the large flow (direction) of higher timeframes
- Use MTF Pivot to confirm the walls of “how far to pull back / where to take profit”
- Only after those conditions are in place, measure entry timing on short-term bars
By constructing a simple process of “environment recognition ➔ strategy construction ➔ execution,” trades without foresight or unnecessary jumping can be greatly reduced.
Summary
To simplify trading decisions, it is essential to minimize chart noise as much as possible and create a state where only the information you should be watching is clearly visible.
I hope you will apply this sense of noise-free visibility, the轻ness of movement, and the discoveries like “this way of using it is also good” as daily environment recognition.

As a tool developer, I want to value the real, live difficulties traders face in the field above all else.
Therefore, if you have concerns or requests such as “this indicator display is heavy and troublesome in usual trading” or “it would be convenient if it showed in this format,”
please let me know in the comments below!
I will use your feedback for future tool improvements and new developments.
