[Breaking News] The Golden Guardian: Upgraded to version v1.10. The way of losing has improved (with some honest caveats)
Serial Yoko and Kenji's GOLD EA Mastery Journal Part 10 (Breaking News)
Hello, this is Yoko.
I mentioned last time that I would announce the next installment, but due to changes in schedule,Breaking Newshas arrived.
I’ll deliver the promised content again.
Actually,Kenji is excited again. While developing a new EA, he said he realized something important for the guardians, and for several days now, he’s been on this roll, diligently upgrading the version.
If you listen closely, from my perspective it seems like “just a tweak to the trailing (how to move the stop-loss).”
But for Kenji, it appears different. The main indicators of the EA he has nurtured with carehave all improved, so as a developer, it’s a huge joy.
Thinking about that, I feel a little happy too.
When I checked, the backtest numbers moved significantly, soGold Guardian upgraded (v1.10)This is the report.
First, the conclusion
・What was changed isthe way the stop-loss line is moved. The number of trades remains1,625 trades, the sameas before
・Profit Factor (PF) is3.55 → 5.85, and win rate is77.4% → 86.4%now
・Maximum drawdown (DD) is reduced by about 17%, and the maximum consecutive losses decreased from6 to 4times
・However, the average profit per trade is about 12% smallerand it becomes more sensitive to order delays. We will honestly convey both the good points and the cautions
What Kenji noticed
Kenji:“During testing of a new product, I thoroughly examined a gold breakout-type EA. At that moment, the small number of times it hit the stop losscaught my eye. If there’s even a little profit right after breaking out, I immediately raise the stop-loss line andmove it to a “less losing” position. This movement greatly contributed to stabilizing performance.”
The Gold Guardian originally uses a trailing stop (a mechanism that moves the stop-loss with profit). However, Kenji thought whether the timing to start this and the granularity of following could be faster and finer.
Kenji:“My principle is not to change the code by assumption. So I ran the backtest under the same conditions to confirm with numbers.”
We compared under the same conditions
The testing conditions used real tick data from an overseas broker (from July 2014 to Sept 2026), with fixed lot size, andthe number of trades and the lot size are exactly the same. The only change was how the stop-loss line is moved.
| v1.06 Traditional |
v1.10 This time |
Change | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Number of trades | 1,625 | 1,625 | Same |
| Win rate | 77.4% | 86.4% | +9.0pt |
| PF | 3.55 | 5.85 | about 1.6x |
| Proportion of full stop-loss | 22.5% | 13.4% | about 40% reduction |
| Max consecutive losses | 6 | 4 | reduced by 2 |
| Max DD (balance) | 91,229 yen | 75,662 yen | about 17% reduction |
| Recovery factor | 87.1 | 119.3 | about 1.4x |
| Total net profit | 8,731,828 yen | 9,864,312 yen | +13% |
| Average holding time | 6 minutes 31 seconds | 3 minutes 18 seconds | about half |
※In relation to the table in Part 9, the testing conditions are different, so please do not compare the numbers directly. This time, we are comparing v1.06 and v1.10 under exactly the same conditions.
The biggest change isthe proportion of trades that hit full stop-loss dropped by about 40%The drawdown shortened, and the profit curve became smoother. The total profit grew by about 13% not so much from increasing wins but frombetter loss behaviorbeing the main effect.
Not all good news
Kenji:“To be honest, I’ll write it honestly here.”
Something I’d like to tell you
・Average profit per trade is about 12% smaller.Because the stop-loss line is moved up earlier, trades that would have extended greatly may be closed sooner to take profits. It’s a pattern of “limiting wins to reduce losses.”
・Order execution delays become more sensitive. In the tester, if we set a 1-second delay in execution, net profit dropped by about 10%, PF dropped to about 5.1. Still, the traditional performance is higher, but real-world delays (broker or VPS environment) are different from the tester.
・Annual fluctuations remain.In 13 years, v1.10 outperformed in 12, but in 2025, v1.06 performed better.
The numbers this time are allfrom past backtests. They do not guarantee future profits.
Therefore, v1.10 will also continue forward-testing in live operation, and I will report the results in this series.
v1.10 changes
① Improve the way to move the stop-loss line
After profit is realized, the timing and following of moving the stop-loss line have been made faster and more granular than before. No setting changes are required.
② Option to select the number of days for orders
Initial settings remain as before. An option to increase the target to trade more days to increase the number of trades can be selected. Increasing it tends to increase net profit, but the quality per trade decreases.
③ Enhanced logging
We now log in detail the reasons why a stop-loss update did not go through. This will help you verify your environment and consult support.
Yoko's note
When making a new product, you can sometimes find hints to improve existing products. This time, I reflected those hintsnot on assumptions, but after verifying with numbersin guardian features.
v1.10 is already available for download at no additional cost to those who have purchased it.
Next time
Next time, in the spirit of the “Mastery Journal,”we will explain the merits and cautions of a setup that increases daily entries to 3to grow profits.
Thank you for reading to the end.
