■ Major moves and factors in major cryptocurrencies today (2026-10-13), trends since last week, BTC ETF flows, notable altcoin movements
Today (as of 2026-10-13) we detail the latest price movements of major cryptocurrencies (digital assets), the underlying factors, the overall market trend since last week, the flow in and out of Bitcoin spot ETFs, and the movements of notable altcoins that showed pronounced activity. Note that the price levels presented may differ slightly depending on the data source referenced, but they broadly reflect the market’s average trading levels.
■ Today's moves and main drivers
・Bitcoin (BTC) trend
Bitcoin (BTC) is trading roughly around $83,000 to $83,600. Earlier this morning there was a rapid dip from about $80,850 to near $81,000, but subsequent strong buying pressure helped it rebound, reclaiming the $83,000s. On a 24-hour basis, it has been essentially flat to marginally up or down, anddemonstrates relatively firm price action within the overall market.
・Ethereum (ETH) and major altcoins’ movements
Ethereum (ETH) is trading around $2,490 to $2,520. It was briefly pushed toward the $2,400 area, then rebounded on a dip-buying wave, but on a 24-hour basis it is about -1.5%, making its path somewhat softer compared with Bitcoin.relative softness versus Bitcoin
Across other major altcoins, weakness is more pronounced. Solana (SOL) is around $107 with 24-hour declines of roughly 3.5–4%, Ripple (XRP) around $1.36–$1.37 with 2–3% declines, and Binance Coin (BNB) around $740, all showing broad selling pressure.
As Bitcoin demonstrated relative resilience against the altcoin decline, Bitcoin’s dominance in the crypto market rose temporarily.
・Key factors moving the market
Several combined factors are contributing to this price decline and the rebound from the lows.
First, a risk-off sentiment in traditional equities. Korea’s KOSPI fell sharply by about 5.5–7% on concerns about AI-related industries. This backdrop includes remarks by Broadcom’s CEO suggesting that “there is a gambling-like speculative aspect to current AI investments” and intensified competition in China’s memory chip market causing big drops in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. This rapid risk-off mood across Asia spread to the crypto market, triggering a temporary broad decline.Second, massive liquidations of leveraged positions occurred, with default losses exceeding $800 million in the futures market (longs), accelerating the downside.
3) Third, post-drop spot buying and market waiting for events. After the initial decline, spot buying pressured prices back toward prior levels. Investors’ positioning ahead of US bank earnings and Wednesday October 14 CPI data also influenced moves. Additionally, the Fear & Greed Index, a gauge of market sentiment, showed 57 (Greed), indicating slightly elevated risk appetite compared to the previous day.
■ Price trends since last week and market environment
Last week (from around Oct 6) saw exceptionally high volatility in the crypto market.
Bitcoin (BTC) tested the $86,000–$87,000 range early in the week but faced resistance, and around Thursday it fell back to about $80,400. Through the weekend it gradually recovered to the $82,000–$83,000 area, but for the week as a whole finished down roughly 2.7–3.5%.
Meanwhile, major altcoins including ETH suffered more severe declines than BTC. Ethereum fell about 7% for the week, with other coins seeing even larger price adjustments. The crypto market overall remained risk-off, with altcoins underperforming Bitcoin.
■ Bitcoin spot ETF fund flows (last ~1 week)
Based on high-quality data from Farside Investors, daily net inflows/outflows into the Bitcoin spot ETF in the U.S. market (all figures in millions of dollars) are as follows.
・October 5: net outflow of about $90 million
・October 6: net inflow of about $119 million
・October 7: net outflow of about $485 million (large outflow)
・October 8: net outflow of about $244 million
・October 9: net inflow of about $21 million
・October 12: net outflow of about $65 million
For October to date, the cumulative net flow is about a net outflow of $4.5 billion. In the week of Oct 5–9, total ETF outflows reached about $6.81 billion, ending a three-week run of positive inflows.
The cumulative inflow to date remains substantial, over $57 billion, but recent outflows and redemptions have slowed the pace of spot price appreciation and are a major factor in weakening the support for spot prices.
■ Notable altcoins’ individual movements
・Zcash (ZEC) movement
・NEAR Protocol (NEAR) movement
NEAR fell more than 10% over 24 hours, but positive factors such as AI-related attention and spot ETF-related news provide some upside prospects, with reports suggesting weekly gains remain in positive territory. Very high volatility characterizes NEAR, with short-term selling pressure and mid-to-long-term optimism in intense conflict.
・Other altcoin movements
Major coins like Hyperliquid (HYPE) and Cardano (ADA) are broadly in decline, indicating the broader market underperforms Bitcoin.

・Arkham identifies Justin Sun’s wallet
Zcash (ZEC) fell noticeably by around 6–10% over 24 hours, with higher-than-usual trading volume. This drop is attributed to the overall market weakness, ongoing forced long liquidations, and renewed discussions around privacy features and tracing related to past hacking incidents. ZEC had previously shown strong upside momentum, so the correction was pronounced. Nonetheless, anticipation for the NU7 (Network Upgrade 7) upgrade remains robust, leading to continued price volatility as factors offset each other.Blockchain analytics firm Arkham has identified and traced Justin Sun’s crypto asset wallets across 10 major blockchains. The on-chain assets confirmed total about $225 million (roughly 33 billion JPY). Arkham, as of September 2026, named Sun the world’s second-largest individual crypto holder after Satoshi Nakamoto. ・Investor holding BTC equivalent to ¥1.35 billion loses all assets after Ledger purchase
The victim bought 80 BTC (worth about $6.0 million at the time) at around $65,000 per BTC four months ago, with unrealized gains of about ¥2.0 billion after price increases. A week ago, they purchased a Ledger hardware wallet from a crypto brokerage CryptoBillis and, after setting it up and transferring funds, the entire balance disappeared.Ledger’s response
Given such incidents, new hardware wallet purchases should be approached with caution, and purchases should be made directly from the manufacturer’s official site rather than through third-party distributors.Directly purchasing from the official manufacturer is strongly recommended.
・Important principles in security and self-custody
When introducing new hardware wallets or downloading software wallets, it is advised not to move all assets immediately in one go. Start with small tests and keep assets in cold storage for several weeks to observe. During this waiting period (and thereafter), carefully monitor for news about hacks or vulnerabilities related to the product or the manufacturer. Even hardware can be compromised via supply chain tampering, and software from official sites can be tampered through domain takeovers. Self-custody without a central administrator requires significant personal responsibility.
Additionally, Binance founder CZ (Changpeng Zhao) has published “Crypto Security 101,” proposing three pillars:
1) Theft prevention: use offline PCs or trusted hardware wallets completely isolated from the internet.
2) Loss prevention: do not screenshot seeds or recovery phrases; back up and store physically across multiple locations.
3) Inheritance planning: prepare clear procedures so that heirs can recover funds in case of emergency.
In Japan, there is also a view that entrusting assets to registered domestic crypto exchanges with insurance against hacks and strict custody segregation may provide greater safety for ordinary users than self-management.
