Half-size EA ELDRA If you buy it, first check the settings checklist 20
Hello, I’m Hoso no P, the author of ELDRA.
ELDRA has more than 400 configuration items. We have received voices saying, “There are too many, I don’t know where to start.”
But don’t worry. Before deciding on trading methods (such as averaging down, grids, etc.),there are only a few items you need to check once at the start. This time, we’ve compiled a checklist of 20 items to review right after purchase or when you change brokers.
A. Basics of Orders (1–7)
□ 1. 33-3. Magic Number
Default is 15151555.When using ELDRA on multiple charts within the same account, or alongside other EAs, assign a different number for each chart. If the numbers are the same, each EA may treat the other’s positions as its own.
□ 2. 33-8. Target of Operation
- 0=Magic Number & Chart Currency Pair (default): ELDRA will operate only on the positions it opened.
- 1=Chart Currency Pair:Include manual orders and signals from other EAswhen operating.
If you want to close positions opened on MT5’s standard order screen with ELDRA’s CLOSE button, set to 1. If you are using the same instrument with other EAs, leave it as 0. The upper limit of grid lines (44-10 to 44-12) and other counts are also based on this setting.
□ 3. 33-2. Maximum Acceptable Spread (pt)
Default 5000 meanspractically unlimited. To avoid entering during times of wide spreads due to economic announcements or early morning, adjust per instrument. The unit is points; for USD/JPY, 10 pt = 1 pip.
□ 4. 33-1. Slippage (pt)
Default is 10. This is the price deviation allowed for market orders.
□ 5. 33-9. Filling Mode (MT5 only)
ELDRA initially automatic selects a method suitable for the broker, and if it cannot determine correctly, it uses this value.Only when you get an error like “Unsupported filling mode” that prevents orders from going through, please try changing to IOC (1) or RETURN (2).
□ 6. 33-4. Maximum Entry Lot
Default 0=unlimited. As a precaution against accidentally entering an excessive lot on the panel,it is recommended to set a cap that isn’t too large relative to the account.
□ 7. 1-1. Type of Lot Size / 1-2. Initial Lot Size
Start with “Fixed Lot” or “0.01.” Compounding or martingale should be done after understanding the movements.
B. On-Screen Display (8–10)
□ 8. 33-6. Information Display / 35-1. Position Information Panel
These control the display of the trading information panel and the position information panel. If you close the panels with the “×” button, they will be saved correctly from v4.43 onward, soonly keep them closed if you don’t want them to appear from the startset to false.
□ 9. 36-5. Compact Panel Use / 36-1・36-2. Panel Position
On laptops or small monitors, the compact panel is recommended. If the panel overlaps the part of the chart you want to see, adjust the X and Y coordinates.
□ 10. 35-3. Method of Profit/Loss Calculation
The default is “Profit/Loss + Swap + Commission.” On accounts with fees, the panel’s P/L more closely reflects actual take-home.
C. Time Settings (11–13)
□ 11. 19-1. Time Acquisition Method
ELDRA’s time settings (operating hours, non-entry times, etc.) arewritten in Japanese time.
- 0=Auto (default): Real time uses computer clock; backtests use an automatic mapping.
- 2=EA Calculation: Calculate from server time. Set 19-2 (GMT offset for daylight saving time, default 3) and 19-3 (winter time, default 2) to match your broker’s server time.
If your VPS clock is not set to Japan time, time may drift with automatic settings. Set the VPS clock to Japan time or set to 2 and enter the offset.
□ 12. 19-4〜19-7. Non-Entry Time / EA Operating Time
If you want to avoid wide spreads in the early morning, turn on 19-4 (default 0500-0900). If you only want to operate during your preferred hours, turn on 19-6 and enter the time window in 19-7.
□ 13. 31-3・31-4. Weekend Close
If you don’t want to carry positions over the weekend, turn this ON. The default time is Saturday 0545 (Japan time). Please ensure it is earlier than the instrument’s weekend closing time.
D. Stop-Loss Insurance (14–17)
□ 14. 5-1. Stop-Loss Base Type / 5-3. Stop-Loss (points)
Default is “No Stop.”It is recommended to always set some kind of stop-loss. The unit of points varies by instrument; for USD/JPY it is 10 pt = 1 pip, for gold it is 100 pt = 1 USD.
□ 15. 5-7. Auto Stop-Loss Allocation / 5-9. Ignore Magic Number
Turning on 5-7 automatically attaches SL to positions that do not have one.5-9 is true by default, so it will apply to manual orders and other EAs’ positions. If this is problematic, set it to false.
□ 16. 8-18. Virtual SL Auto-Switch / 8-19. Emergency Hard Stop
If the broker refuses to set or modify SL (error 4756), the EA will automatically switch to “Virtual SL.” (Default ON). 8-19 is a broker-side hard stop kept as an insurance at that time, and is a balance-based percentage(default 2%).
□ 17. 7-1〜7-3. Balance % Loss Limit / 30-3. Lower Limit
If the account’s overall loss reaches a certain percentage, it stops. If 7-3 is true, it uses the initial balance as the reference. For prop firm accounts with daily loss or maximum loss rules, it’s safer to set slightly before the rule.
E. Safety Devices (18–20)
□ 18. 32-1. Prop Firm Type / 32-9. New Entries Disabled at Daily DD80%
The default “automatic judgment” identifies the prop firm from the server name and automatically sets the minimum hold time and daily loss cap. If a company is not identified or its plan rules differ from presets, switch to “Custom” and fill in 32-2 and 32-3. 32-9 is ON by default, and when daily loss reaches 80% of the limit, new entries stop.
□ 19. 56-1. Capital Shortage Guard / 57-1. Order Rate Guard
Both are ON by default. 56 stops orders when the margin is insufficient, and 57 pauses after repeated order failures or excessive rapid orders. 57-7 detects immediately if the broker disallows EA trading.Basically keep ON and you’ll be fine.
□ 20. 58-1. Daily Settlement Limit
OFF by default.Used for prop firms with daily settlement limits. If you set a cap at 58-2 and a safety margin (default 5) at 58-3, it will stop new entries before hitting the limit. If you trade with grids and averaging down, please check.
Common Mistakes
- Sharing the same Magic Number with another EA→ Both positions might be closed by the other.
- VPS clock is off→ Operating times and weekend closes may not move at the expected times.
- Spread limit remains at default→ Orders execute during wide spreads in the early morning.
- Using with other EAs while set to 1 for target→ ELDRA counts and closes the other EA’s positions as well.
Save your settings
When verification is complete, open the HTML parameter report from the Trading Information Panel (the “≫” button) and click “Δ” to view the set, then save as .set with “? set.” 0-1. In your set’s description memo, write “Account name, confirmation date,” etc. so it appears at the top of the report for easy reference later.
Summary
The first items to review are the five groups of 20 items:Basics of Orders, Display, Time, Stop-Loss Insurance, and Safety Devices. After mastering these, proceed to configuring methods such as averaging down or grids. Please validate settings yourself and use them at your own risk.
