Tachibana Takaki 'Weekly Gold Market Outlook' October 13, 2026 issue
As the representative director and president of Kabushiki Kaisha Investment Daily, a pioneer in astrology market analysis and a leading figure in financial cycle analysis, Kazuteru Kabutogi writes the weekly report on gold market outlook.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last week's New York gold futures (near term) closed at $4,197.50, up $6.60 from the previous week. The low touched $4,091.20, the lowest in two months since August 4. On a weekly basis, after reaching the August rebound high, prices have declined for six consecutive weeks. For gold, the environment of rising interest rates and a stronger dollar weighs on prices, reinforcing a gradual downtrend. However, the market has not collapsed largely due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Iran. This factor may be contributing to higher oil prices, which in turn lift interest rates and hinder gold’s upside. In other words, as circumstances change daily, positive and negative factors pull in opposite directions, making it difficult to discern a clear direction. If a breakthrough in the Iran situation appears, oil prices may stop rising, easing interest rates and potentially strengthening the gold market outlook.
Regarding 10-year yields, they remain above 5%, and until the weekly chart’s gap-up range is breached downward, a decline in rates is not anticipated.
Within the year, there remains one more anticipated Fed rate hike. This week will see the release of the important U.S. economic indicator CPI; if this comes in below market expectations, we may see a different reaction.
