[What to do on Sunday night] Procedure to delete one line from next week's checklist
On Sunday night I was rewriting next week's checklist, and before I knew it, another item had been added, hadn't it? Even though I know on Monday morning I can't check everything, where should I cut back?
Adding is easy, deleting is scary.
I worry that if I lose due to a deleted condition, what will happen (;'∀')
Good evening!
This is Masashi^^
Since today is Sunday, please allow me to talk about tasks that can only be done over the weekend.
From next week's checklist, decide which line not to bring, and erase it with a line.
One line that never became a decisive factor during this week, do not bring it to next week, just one.
? Monday when the checklist became twelve lines
I will start with a confession.
This is a story from when my checklist was the longest it had ever been.
On Monday morning, there were twelve lines on the table I stuck to the side of the screen.
I checked from the top, and around halfway the prices started to move.
There is no time to check the remaining six lines.
In the end, I skipped some lines based on my mood at the time and placed orders.
Moreover, the lines I skipped were different each time.
Some days I skipped the seventh line, on other days the tenth line.
With this, whether there was a list or not, the content of my judgments was always random… w
? A too-long list becomes a list where I skip different lines each time.
? Where did the increased lines come from?
Actually, most of the twelve lines were added in the following week after a losing week.
Looking back at the trades that cut losses, it feels like I missed something.
To prevent that oversight, I add one line to the table.
When I add it, there is a proper reason.
However, that reason is usually only in that one loss instance.
A cut is originally a cost that I anticipated.
If I add one line for each cost, the checklist will only keep growing.
The reasons to add are found every week. The reasons to delete, you have to seek yourself.
? Deletion candidates are lines that were never decisive
So, which line should I delete?
In my case, I keep as deletion candidates the lines that never became decisive in that week.
A decisive line is one that you entered because of it, or that you passed on because of it.
Line up the week's trades and passes, and mark which line tipped the decision.
Then you will find lines that have no marks at all.
They were checked, but the conclusion was never changed.
That line might only take up space in the table.
? Look at the number of times you changed the conclusion, not the number of times you checked. This is the key point when seeking deletion candidates.
? How to use the table in twenty minutes on Sunday
If you put it into steps, it goes like this.
Make a cup of coffee, and set aside only twenty minutes ^^
【1. Line up this week's records, including both entered and passed items】
【2. For each item, mark the line that influenced the decision】
【3. From the lines with zero marks, pick just one and draw a line】
【4. Write the reason for deletion in one line next to the drawn line】
For the fourth reason, you might write something like: 【Seven checks this week, and the conclusion never changed even once】.
Deleting does not mean blacking out. It means drawing a line in a readable way and not copying it to next week's table, that's all.
The first practice tonight only needs one round.
If you can't find any zero-mark lines, it's okay to end the week without deleting anything.
⚠ Even if you never use it, there are lines you must not delete
I will break the rules up to here.
Even with zero marks, there are lines you do not delete.
A line whose job is to have no use is something that must stay.
・A line for where to place the stop loss
・A line for the amount to be used per trade
・A line that should not be included before the announcement
Such lines do not change their conclusions in weeks when nothing happens.
But they will start working in weeks when something happens.
Just because the fire alarm didn’t ring for a year, you wouldn’t remove it, would you?
Do not judge lines by the number of marks for the direction to stop or to protect.
This is the part to separate first.
The only deletable lines are those that were checked in to enter and did not change the conclusion.
? What if the next week, in that scene, you lose after deleting?
“What if next week, right after deleting, you lose with exactly that condition?”
Many people think like this before deleting.
I was exactly the same.
First, since you only deleted with a line, it still remains on the table.
The reason for the deletion is also written next to it.
So when you lose, you can reread that reason and decide whether to revert it or not.
If rereading yields only one reason to revert, it follows the same flow as when you added it initially.
A single stop loss is a cost you anticipated.
If you return the table to its original state in one moment, it will become a table that grows again.
? Deleted lines are not discarded, only put on hold. When you revert, you write the reason in one line like 【Last week twice, a pass was decided on this line】.
❌ Don’t feel good about deleting all at once
Shortening the table honestly feels quite refreshing!
With that momentum, there are days when you want to delete all lines with zero marks.
But deleting three or four lines at once makes the table too light, and you’ll end up adding lines again by feel.
One line per week is manageable for the next week.
Even with a twelve-line table, in about two and a half months there should be only lines worth keeping remaining.
Delete one line per week. Choose a pace that keeps you going weekly, not just a faster pace to lighten the table.
✅ On Monday morning, what to verify in the table
On Monday morning with a table that has one line deleted, please verify only one thing.
Whether you have checked all remaining lines from start to finish.
If you still skipped some line somewhere,
that doesn’t mean the skipped line is bad; it’s a sign the table is still too long.
I will mark the skipped lines with a small mark.
When you choose deletion candidates the next Sunday, those marks become material for you.
✅ A day when you could see everything means the table length is proper. A day when you skipped means there is one more material for Sunday.
? Build the set of lines to keep with GOLD special medicine
As you delete lines from the table, you become curious about which lines you will keep at the end.
GOLD Special Medicine is a material I use to organize the order of GOLD decisions into three flows: place, waiting reason, and stopping place.
If you divide the table's lines into these three, lines that don’t fit anywhere become easier to spot.
Lines that fit nowhere are easy to treat as candidates to delete on Sunday.
However, the material does not decide which line to delete for you.
Marking or drawing lines is also your own weekly record.
Tools or materials do not replace your judgment, and this remains true here as well.
If your table has grown too long and you’re unsure what to keep, GOLD provides a foundation for how to divide things.
On the other hand, it’s not suitable for people who want to keep the completed checklist as is.
? Summary: On Monday, the table you bring should be one line shorter
The checklist grows by one line with every losing week.
A grown table cannot be checked fully, and you end up skipping different lines each time.
So on Sunday night, take only twenty minutes and lay out the week’s records.
Mark the lines that split the decision, and draw a single line on the zero-mark line.
Do not delete lines that are for how to place stop losses or quantities or lines that should not be included before the announcement.
Add a reason for deleted lines, and keep the same reason when you revert them.
Whether you divide what to keep based on your own records or on the GOLD Special Medicine order—either way is fine.
Whichever you choose, you can start with one line tonight.
On next Monday morning, when you open the table, you should notice the line you drew.
With the drawn line, you will have a morning where you can calmly verify the remaining lines ^^
