MMA Weekly Report Nikkei Stock Average By Raymond Merriman Oct.13 2026
1. Recap
The Nikkei Stock Average closed the week at 69,030, up 721 points from the previous week. The week's high was October 6 (Tuesday) at 70,798. The week's low was October 9 (Thursday) at 68,150. Although the weekly high exceeded the resistance line, the close fell below it, triggering a bearish signal. However, this close value has exceeded the Weekly Trend Indicator Point (TIP) for three consecutive weeks. Therefore, the underlying trend has been upgraded from “neutral” to “upward trend.”
2. Cycles
As previously stated, the “Forecast 2026” changes the long-term market cycle duration for the Nikkei average from 17 years to 19 years. However, the starting point at October 28, 2008, 6,994 remains unchanged. Therefore, where this 19-year cycle bottoms, or whether it has not yet bottomed, will be the focus in 2026. That said, there is no change to the view that the current market is composed of a four-year cycle, and the development of future long-term cycles will continue to be influenced by the movement of the most recent PC (typically 12–20 weeks). There is no change either.
