The signs that increase when you re-enter the chart are lagging indicators — a story about rebuilding the currency strength sign “using only the data at that candle’s point”【CP-Signal for MT5】
I am lab.aiueo developing MT4/MT5 indicators.
In this article, I will explain why signal-type indicators show up late, especiallythe reason why it happens with currency strength signalsand how to verify it. Finally, I will introduceCP-Signal for MT5.
CP-Signal placed on GBPUSD H1. The readings on the screen are labeled with numbers ①–⑥
When I reloaded in the morning, the arrows increased
When I looked at the chart at night, there were no signs.
In the morning, after switching the time frame and returning, the clean arrows from the previous night’s time frame have increased. Moreover, the price moved straight away from those arrows.
These arrows did not appear as of last night.Signals that only appear when re-entering the chart are late signals.Because some calculation that knows the subsequent price movement is mixed in somewhere, past charts often look good.
Four entrances where later values mix into currency strength
Currency strength indicators use values from 28 pairs in addition to the displayed pair. To line up past signals at the moment of entry on the chart, each past bar must be recalculated for “the strength at that bar,” and there areat least four entrances where later values mixinto the calculation.
| Entrance | What happens | CP-Signal MT5 version |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Read other pairs by “count” | If a pair has one fewer bar, that pair’s “100 bars ago” becomes a bar after the chart’s 100 bars ago | Read by timestamp |
| 2. Determine past time frames by current time difference | Applying summer time difference (GMT+3) to January’s bars shifts by one hour. Past signals change depending on the season | Determine for each bar by that day’s daylight saving time |
| 3. Decide the usual variance with the latest 500 bars | If you calculate once at startup and reuse for the past, the past judgments include subsequent price movements | Calculate using only the 500 bars prior to that bar |
| 4. Judge only the most recent bar | If the connection drops and resumes or if you fast-forward, many bars advance, and signals for skipped bars appear only when re-entering | Judge all skipped bars |
If you write the second as a number, it becomes this.
Even by eye, you can’t tell the difference
No matter which values are mixed, the chart’s appearance hardly changes. It’s just that one arrow may be off by one bar, or there may be one more in a certain period.
Therefore, in the MT5 version development,I created an automatic test that recalculates every bar of the most recent 500 bars using “the data at the time that bar was latest,” and cross-checks the chart replay with the direction, TP/SL, and signal listto reproduce the chart precisely.
CP-Signal judgment consists of 3 steps
| Step | What to look at | Default value |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Direction | Difference in two currencies’ strength is larger than usual, and the Trend EMA is in the same direction | At least 1.5σ, and the EMA50 slope |
| 2. Time frame | Whether that bar is London or New York time | GMT 07:00–16:00 / 12:00–21:00 |
| 3. Pullback | Touched the pullback EMA and closed with body in the direction | EMA20 |
When all three align, we show an arrow only once on the confirming bar, then a fixed cooldown of 8 bars is applied. When the difference is small, no direction is shown.
How to read the screen
Top-left panel shows the eight-currency strength ranking and why no signal appears (Status)

| Status | State |
|---|---|
session closed | Out of trading hours in London/New York |
strength gap low | Strength difference hasn’t reached the threshold |
EMA direction mismatch | Strength direction and the Trend EMA slope are opposite |
cooldown (8 bars) | After the previous signal. After this bar count, signals can appear again |
watching EMA touch | Direction is decided and waiting for a rebound to the pullback EMA |
On the chart, signals arrows, the latest signal’s TP (green dotted line) and SL (red dotted line), and the London (dark blue) and New York (dark brown) time bands are shown. SL isdistance from ATR×1.5 and the recent 10 bars’ high/low, and TP is the distance to SL × RR (default 1.0).
How wins and losses are counted
For past signals, we mark whether TP or SL was reached first with a check or cross.
- If a single bar reaches both TP and SL, count as a loss(since which comes first among the bars is unknown)
- Judgment is based on the chart’s price (Bid) high/lowand does not include spread or order execution slippage
The panel’s win rate is a record of how past price movements on your chart would have turned out. It may not be the same in the future, so numbers are not provided in this article.
Also moves on the BT-Replay validation chart
The BT-Replay tool for MT5 that replays past market data bar by bar also runs on its validation chart. It only reads up to the chart’s confirmed bar time for other pairs,so it does not emit signals for time beyond thatand when rewinding it re-creates signals up to that moment; during playback it does not trigger alerts.
What this product does not do
It does not place orders. It is an indicator to display on the chart, not an EA.It does not advertise win-rate figures. This is not written on the product page or in this article.
Flow of usage
- Confirm the direction… Check which of the two currencies is stronger via BIAS and strength ranking
- Wait… while watching EMA touch, wait for a pullback. If the price moves up without returning, no signal will appear
- Look at signals… Verify that the TP/SL positions align with your target thresholds before considering
- Reflect… Check with ✓ and × how the signal ended for that currency pair and time frame
Time frames M15, M30, H1, and H4 are easy to use. On H4, signals are quite fewer, and on D1 or higher, bar times do not fall within time bands, so no signals are produced.

Why it was created
The MT5 version originated from an email from someone who bought SM C-Signal (MT5) asking for a MT5 version of CP-Signal. Domestic brokers are also phasing out MT4 (JFX by Aug 2026, OANDA Securities by Nov 2026).

“Not late signaling” is easy to write but hard to verify. This was the strongest realization for me this time.
For those who have MT4 version: the judging method and parameters are the same, but you would purchase it as a separate product. Also, MT4 and MT5 receive prices from different servers even with the same broker, so the signal positions may not perfectly match.
