Dollar/Yen changes by about a factor of three depending on when it enters — “Moving times and non-moving times” investigated with five years of 5-minute bars during Daylight Saving Time
【New Product Introduction】
We released the MT5 indicator "Omakase Horizontal Line Pro" that notifies you on your smartphone when your feet hit the horizon (this is a product I sell).

USD/JPY moves about 39 pips per hour during the summer-time 21:00 hour, and about 11 pips during the early morning 05:00 hour. The movement range differs by about 3 times depending on what time you enter.
When I wasn’t conscious of this difference, I kept losing in the same ways many times.
- Enter at 11:00 with the momentum of 10:00 and reduce profits by not moving upward
- Continue past 18:00 and again reduce profits
- Be shaken by sudden moves before London opens
From five years of USD/JPY 5-minute data (October 2021 to September 2026), on 758 weekdays during daylight saving time, I averaged the movement range per hour (difference between high and low).
Now I read these times aloud using the browser app "FX Voice Reminder" (a product I sell).
The 14 items I registered were introduced in September articles, but the times were decided by intuition. This time, with AI help, I tallied five years' worth of data and checked 14 items against the results.
Before “Read More”
As a result, most things were correct. However, I found three times that are better left unused.
In the continuation, I’ve listed the following three items.
- Three times over five years when not to enter and the reasons
- Days of the week that don’t move even in the 21:00 hour (graph)
- The 14 time rules I actually use (you can copy them as-is)
