To those considering trading with a high-leverage account【Important Condition ②】
Hello, I am Yoko.
The second installment of the series “RisingTide To Those Considering a Purchase: Important Preconditions” is,For those considering operating with a high-leverage account. This is the environment that RisingTide originally envisions, so first I will tell you the required amount in actual measured numbers.
Note: This article’s verification was conducted on an account with leverage ◎000 (four-digit leverage). Even among domestic brokers, high leverage may be available for corporate accounts, etc. Please verify the leverage available for your account and the broker’s loss-cut level yourself.
1. Preconditions
- Asset: GOLD (XAUUSD), M5 candles
- Settings: Standard mode (buying bias + selling linked), lot multiplier 1.07, stop-loss brake 18,000 dollars (per 0.01 lot), 0.01 lot
- Leverage: 1:◎000, exchange rate assumed around 157 yen per $1
- Verification: started September 1, 2026, through September 30 (including the September 28 plunge)
On September 28, 2026, gold dropped about $160–$170 over about two days. The official forward account (about 1,260,000 yen) hit a stop-out situation.
2. Results by initial margin
| Initial margin | Sept 28 | Minimum maintenance margin | Maximum drawdown as a percentage of balance | P/L on 9/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000,000 yen | Stop-out (23:45) | — | — | −998,190 yen |
| 1,500,000 yen | Survived | 456% | 73% | +234,006 yen |
| 2,000,000 yen | Survived | 965% | 56% | +234,006 yen |
| 2,600,000 yen | Survived | 1,576% | 44% | +234,006 yen |
| 3,000,000 yen | Survived | 1,983% | 38% | +234,006 yen |
※The drawdown for the four surviving conditions is the same amount. Even with more capital, the trading content does not change; only the margin differs.
There are two points to look at.
- 1,000,000 yen stopped out on September 28.It survived for 1,500,000 yen for the first time, but the maximum unrealized loss reached 73% of the balance.
- With 2,000,000 yen or more, you finally have leeway. With 2,600,000 yen, unrealized loss was 44% of the balance, and the maintenance margin was at least 1,576%.
The worst-case unrealized loss in actual measurement was about $7,600 (about 1,190,000 yen). If the yen weakens or gold rises, more may be required.
3. Estimated required funds
Recommended: 2,000,000–2,600,000 yen or more(A level where unrealized losses stay below half of the balance)
The “Recommended margin 2,600,000 yen” on the product page is based on these results. The official forward’s about 1,260,000 yen was slightly below the minimum line.
4. Differences from 12 years of backtesting
The backtests released so far cover the results starting with 1,000,000 yen in July 2014. The lot size remained fixed, but profits accumulated over 12 years, and by September 28 the balance had reached several tens of millions of yen. Therefore, it could withstand the same drop.
If a customer starts now, there is no capital that has grown yet.If a large drop occurs immediately after starting, as shown in the above table, 1,000,000 yen will not suffice. Please understand that the results of 12 years of backtesting do not indicate the safety of a brand-new account.
5. Effect of lot multiplier
The reason for lowering the preset lot multiplier from 1.10 to 1.07 is to reduce the amount of needed capital. This is a comparison with 1,260,000 yen and starting on September 1.
| Multiplier | Result | Minimum maintenance margin | Total P/L |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.05 | Survived | 821% | +191,736 yen |
| 1.07 (default) | Survived | 212% | +234,006 yen |
| 1.10 (old default) | 9/28 Stop-out | — | — |
Lowering the multiplier reduces the worst-case loss, but profits also decrease. If you set it to 1.05, you gain more leeway. However, please verify the performance yourself if you change it.
6. Results vary by start time
The table above is for starting just before the September 28 decline. If you start at a different time, the required funds differ. There is no guarantee that further declines will not occur. Please begin with an amount you can spare within your own available funds without overextending yourself.
Further discussions on operation modes, micro accounts, and 20x leverage will be in another installment.
