Yataki Takaki 'Weekly Gold Market Outlook' October 5, 2026 issue
Mr. Takaki Kabuki, President and Chief Executive Officer of Kabushiki-gaisha Tōshi Nippōsha, a pioneer in astrology-based market analysis and a leading figure in financial cycle analysis, writes a weekly report on gold market prospects.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The September unemployment data released on October 2 fell well short of market expectations, due to the combination of the month’s weakness and downward revisions to previous months.
Non-farm payrolls rose by 29,000, below the market expectation of 90,000, and the unemployment rate rose slightly to 4.2% from 4.1% in the prior month; moreover, payrolls for July and August were revised downward by a total of 60,000. Both employment and wages showed signs of slowing, yet U.S. interest rates did not continue to fall. Looking at intraday data, rates fell and the dollar weakened immediately after the release, but afterward bonds were sold, and Reuters’ late report noted the 10-year yield at 5.281% and the 2-year yield at 4.827%, both higher than the previous day.
The stock market welcomed the prospect of a “delay in further rate hikes,” while the bond market still did not seem to have relaxed its vigilance about inflation. If employment weakens but rates do not fall, it would burden both corporate earnings and financing. For the time being, the weekly chart for the 10-year Treasury yield shows no signs of breaking downward from a triangle on the upside, and it cannot be said to negate expectations of a Fed rate hike. Reuters News Agency reports that the market is currently strongly pricing in a scenario of “pause in October, rate hike in December.”
