FX trading unlike ordinary positions
If you work on this, your mind will clear about the reversal moments I daily article about in Investment Navigator, and you can trade with focus.
Good morning, everyone.
Yesterday's USD/JPY range was about 1 yen.
It’s moving as expected, isn’t it.
Is it really okay to make money this easily?
Such days continue, but have you organized your thoughts before facing the chart?
During the day, you may be told things you don't want to do at work, you deal with subordinates and superiors carefully, and you return home stressed, ready to trade.
I used to be the same a long time ago...
Before entering a trade, calm yourself in front of the monitor, take a deep breath as if not entering any more, slowly exhale, wake up your brain with the strain, and face the chart.
When you're ready, I'll write what to do next.
Market adage??
“Look at the trees, not the forest”
Getting distracted by small things can prevent making big-picture judgments.
I will confirm today's movements to avoid that.
Speaking off-topic, in 2012 there was Tom Cruise-starring movie
“Jack Reacher”
It was interesting, so I still sometimes watch it on Prime Video or Netflix.
Well, the story is known, so sometimes I just have it on in the background as ambient sound.
In this movie Tom Cruise says
“Look at the forest, not the trees.”
The federal agent who is told that looks down, recalling something in thought, which is a memorable scene.
A review of yesterday's perfect trade moment
This is where the profits are most easily made.
First, on the USD/JPY 1-hour chart, “understand the big picture and the forest”
After you get home, you’ll likely look at the chart around white circles.
The most recent highs and lows you’ll see are yellow and blue circles.
In front of the monitor, which way will it go?
That is what you should consider.
From the current situation, the highs are trending lower.
Will you aim for the blue low or, if it declines, what happens?
If the blue circle is breached downward, it becomes a downtrend, possibly heading toward the lower yellow stars?
That much is worth considering.
At that moment, you need to decide in advance whether to sell for the drop to the red circle, or to buy on the rebound after the drop has finished.
In this situation, I choose to buy lower.
Because if the downtrend continues and the recent low blue circle is cleared, even a small rebound can bring about a gain of about 10 pips.
Also, “if you look at the forest,”
the red square zone has become past support, and it is not simply a resistance-switch.
However, this might be the first moment where the support/resistance switches; if so, you can cut losses as needed.
If it continues to drop, the red square zone becomes resistance, and the white horizontal line Billionaire Trader Level could be the initial target around 15400; please think of it as the Billionaire Trader users’ expectation.
That can be confirmed on the 1-hour Billionaire Trader chart.
Here I want to instill this kind of analytical habit.
Also, since the red star indicates a long-range range, a break-out is fast, but there should be a rebound once broken.
In such conditions, you decide and implement positions on the 1-minute or 5-minute charts.
USD/JPY 1-hour & 5-minute charts
Both the 1-hour and 5-minute charts continue the downtrend with a sharp decline.
There is a reversal at the red circle, but you can generally confirm that from the forest view on the 1-hour chart.
For users, since you are turning from selling to buying just before the yellow square, that becomes the L-position strategy.
In simple terms, you could trade on the minute chart at the absolute bottom or peak today, but first decide where those extrema are by yourself.
I mainly base on the high and low of Tokyo time, assuming the Yankees will swing it around, so I’m mindful of that at night.
Since you’re returning home, I think that approach is fine.
After all, big buyers and sellers target major opposite positions, so aligning with that makes winning easier.
Please verify various things this weekend.
See the forest before looking at the trees.
Thank you again for today as well.
