[10/1 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points]
Thanks for your hard work! Now let's do some USDJPY scalping again tonight!
First, let's start with today's Tokyo time overview.
Currently USDJPY is around 158.20. This morning it started around 157.35, but during Tokyo time the headline that “government officials attending the meeting, with the main opinions from the Bank of Japan, suggested being cautious about additional rate hikes” cooled expectations for “continuous hikes” and “October hikes,” resulting in about a 1-yen depreciation of the yen. The Tokyo high today is around 158.40.
As for the ensuing development, from the 158 yen area, vigilance against yen weakness from the U.S.-Japan governments is expected to rise. The fundamentals favor a weaker yen, but the direction from here may be hard to grasp.
However, volatility exists, so for us scalpers, there are many opportunities to follow the move without bias.
USDJPY is likely to hand over to overseas trading hours with about an 85-pip rise from the morning level.
Now, here are tonight’s USDJPY scalping points (my notes).
● Movements near the London market open around 16:00
● Movements after the U.S. initial jobless claims release at 21:30
● Movements near the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the U.S. ISM manufacturing index release at 23:00

Other notes…
・At 22:30 remarks by ECB President Christine Lagarde
・At 23:00 remarks by U.S. Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook
・At 26:30 remarks by U.S. Federal Reserve Vice Chair Lael Brainard (voting member)
・Be cautious of yen-weakening remarks from the U.S. and Japan
・Watch headlines related to the Strait of Hormuz

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping strategy” targets movements around the London and New York market opens, and the moves after 21:30 (U.S. initial jobless claims) and 23:00 (U.S. ISM manufacturing) releases. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” following standard theory should suffice. Also, if you’re staying up late, target moves after U.S. key officials speak.
Additionally, the short of the “15-minute chart scalping strategy” would be in a broad yen weakness regime after the Bank of Japan’s rate-hike expectations recede, so forcing a position may not be advisable. Tonight, I’ll focus safely on “1-minute scalping.”
With that, overseas trading time is about to begin soon!
Also,Gogojangさん came all the way to my office for an interview about “scalping.” I spoke a little awkwardly, so please take a look when you have time.

Because scalping aims for small profit margins, it’s easy to think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time windows I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (16:00 in US daylight time / 17:00 in US standard time)
・New York market open time (22:00 in US daylight time / 23:00 in US standard time)
Even immediately after U.S. indicators and events are released, volatility rises and opportunities increase. However, in the minutes right after the release, spreads can widen, so it’s essential to enter only after they revert to normal spreads.
Always check the U.S. indicators and events schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities will arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before U.S. indicators/events releases. If you go against the momentum, you’ll be wiped out in an instant. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
U.S. indicators/events schedules can be checked on the websites of each brokerage and FX broker.
Of course, there are other points besides the three above, but I’ve explained the minimum points you should know when scalping the dollar/Yen.
