Alchemic Duo, another weapon—the "clever move" of Profit-Seeking Mode
Serial Yoko and Kenji's GOLD EA Mastery Journal Part 5
Hello, this is Yoko.
Before getting to the main topic, let me tell you a little about last night.
At 21:30 last night, at the timing of the U.S. indicator releases, gold hadrecovered to around $4,227The unrealized loss on Duo's official forward, which I mentioned in Part 4 as “about 250,000 yen,” had shrunk to only a few dollars away from turning positive.A few dollars awayfrom turning positive.
I stared at the screen thinking, “this might reach settlement,” but it didn’t quite reach it, and it was carried over to thestart of the weekInstead. After that, the gains were almost worn off, and the closing price for the week was around $4,140. The unrealized loss has returned to a level close to where it was at Part 4.
Since this EA has been published, this is the first time that there has been almost a week with no settlements. Even though unrealized gains have reduced this much, unless settlements occur, the final result is not yet determined. We are ourselves experiencing the “waiting time” I talked about in Part 4.
I will honestly convey the results hereafter in subsequent installments in the coming weeks.
Now, last time we discussed Duo’s nature of “parity averaging” and the free trial version. This time, I will talk about one more weapon sleeping inside Duo. Its name is“Profit Pursuit Mode”.
A function that slightly delays the timing of settlements
Duo settles by default whenthe unrealized profit turns positive. It’s a simple and easy-to-understand mechanism.
But there is actually another setting you can choose.Profit Pursuit Mode (InpUseProfitPursuit)is. It is OFF by default, but turning it ON slightly changes the settlement rules.
Even if unrealized profit turns positive, it does not settle immediately.
It waits until RSI returns to 64 before settling.
This is a function to hold back just a little more to see whether you are not missing out on profit when settlement happens early.
Scenes that actually occurred in forward testing
Looking back at September’s forward results, there was a situation that made me feel the need for this function.
In the early hours of September 3, I settled five baskets, including positions held since August 28 for four trading days. Among them, one wasa loss of -19,336 yen, the largest loss in this period.
Right after settlement, the market reversed further, and by the end of the day it had recovered by more than 60 points.
If Profit Pursuit Mode had been ON, this position might have been settled after waiting for RSI to return to 64. A slight difference in settlement timing could have changed the outcome considerably.
In actual practice, in 12 years of testing with this feature ON,the total profit and loss in M5 mode increased by about 21%. However, this is based on past test results and does not promise future results.
This feature is for M5 mode
One important note to share.
Profit Pursuit Mode is available in both Duo’s M5 and M15 modes, butthe benefits have been confirmed only for M5 mode. On the product page, it also states “Default OFF recommended” for M15 mode.
M15 is originally a mode that captures price movements slowly, so the effect of delaying settlements is weaker. I believe this feature is a weapon for those using M5 mode. Please consider it as a weapon for M5 mode users.
Normally ON, switch OFF when unsettled
From here is the most important “skillful use” I want to share today.
Profit Pursuit Mode canbe switched on or off at any time during operation.I personally would recommend the following usage.
Normally keep it ON.Prevents premature settlements and helps profits grow.
When averaging up creates a growing unrealized loss and you feel unsettled, switch OFF.Settlements will occur when it turns positive, allowing you to lock in profits and lighten the position.
In other words, this is a switch that adapts to the situation—“normally be patient, but when things are painful, feel relieved.”
Also, while ON, since it waits for RSI to return even after it turns positive, there are cases where OFF settles first. As in last night’s scenario of “within just a few dollars of positive,” this was precisely such a moment. Which is better depends on the market, so please recognize both the upside and the waiting aspect and choose accordingly.
See the settlement differences with the free trial version
Thefree trial versiondescribed in Part 4 allows you to switch Profit Pursuit Mode ON or OFF just like the paid version.
- In the demo account M5 mode, observe how settlement timing differs between ON and OFF
- When ON, observe for yourself that settlements do not occur immediately even when unrealized profit arises
However, in seven days you cannot determine which setting yields better performance. The “about 21%” figure discussed above is based on 12 years of testing and does not guarantee future results. The trial is only to observe“how it moves”

Yoko's Word
Profit Pursuit Mode may seem like a quiet feature. But simply “delaying settlements a little” can indeed change outcomes. On the other hand, last night there are moments when the waiting time feels long, and I want to honestly mention that as well.
And most importantly, there is freedom to adjust the setting to your own mental state. Articulated averaging EAs can lead to anxiety. In such times, the option to switch OFF and feel relieved can reduce mental burden.

Next time,we will delve further into Alchemy-like mastery. We will specifically discuss how to choose among three levels: stable, aggressive, and ultra aggressive.
Thank you for reading until the end.
