Why can professionals calmly cut losses? Brain science proves the enormous effect of the “monologue during trades.”
Hello, I’m oukanoakari (All-Mighty) ✨
Today, the “philosophy of trading” that I have cherished since long ago is brilliantly verbalized in a YouTube video... I couldn’t help but relate deeply, deeply, and I’d like to share it with you all?
“I can’t seem to win in FX…”, “My mindset has swung again…”, “I’m tired of searching for the Holy Grail (a surefire method)?”
If you’re struggling with such concerns right now, today’s article should be an incredibly big “realization” for you, right?
To be honest, I myself have experienced big failures in the past.
My trading strength is “the overwhelmingly patient waiting ability,” but on the flip side, I have a tendency toward “perfectionism”… because the feeling of “I absolutely don’t want to lose!” is too strong, I used to have the weakness of occasionally delaying a stop loss?
But after watching today’s video, the mystery of “why I end up failing in that way” unraveled smoothly.
The keyword is… letting go of attachment.
① The more you let go by saying, “I don’t care,” the better FX goes
In the video, there was a very interesting perspective on business (investments).
“Why are institutional investors so strong? Because they are dealing with others’ money. Because they have no attachment, they can judge calmly.”
If you translate this to FX, it’s incredibly essential, isn’t it? ✨
“I absolutely have to win this trade!” “I must beat yesterday’s loss right now!”
If we become attached to a single trade like that, our field of vision narrows, and we lose composure.
Usually I monitor 28 currencies plus gold, for a total of 29 currency pairs?
Why monitor so many currencies? It’s to “let go of attachment.”
“Oh, this currency move isn’t good. I don’t care, next!” If I don’t fit into my pattern, I cut it quickly.
It’s like in love, believing “there are countless stars in the world,” letting go of attachment in romance, and in the market thinking, “there are plenty of other opportunities,” letting go. ????
This “mindset of letting go of attachment” was the true form of my strength—the “overwhelming waiting power.”
② Attachment to money delays the stop loss
The video also said this:
“If you are too attached to money, you become afraid of decreasing, and you can’t take on challenges (make correct judgments) at vital moments.”
When I heard this, it hit me hard… ????
The past mistake I sometimes make—“the stop loss is delayed.” That was precisely caused by too strong an attachment to money and to my own expectations (perfectionism).
“I spent so much time analyzing, I should come back,” “I don’t want to lose precious money.”
The more I grip, the more I end up taking a fatal blow?
Stop losses aren’t a failure. They’re a “positive letting go” to seize the next opportunity. If you realize this, trading becomes much lighter at once ✨
③ The trader’s self-talk during trades awakens reason
And finally, the most shocking brain science approach?
“Just by putting your emotions into words, the brain’s fear (amygdala) calms, and reason (prefrontal cortex) recovers.”
Isn’t this the “answer” to FX mental management?
During trades, there will be moments of panic and irritation. We’re only human (lol).
In such times, forcing yourself to stay calm and grinding your teeth is counterproductive. The brain will resist and emotions will escalate.
Professional traders often appear to be calmly at their computers, yet they might be muttering to themselves like, “Ugh, that move pissed me off!” “Oh, I’m so anxious right now!” ????
Releasing emotions outwardly brings back reason smoothly. To adhere to rules and manage funds thoroughly, this “verbalizing emotions” becomes the strongest weapon.
To avoid turning the market into a casino
How did you find today’s share?
FX often gets treated by society as “gambling” or like a “casino.” People say, “It’s a game of chance, right?” quite often.
But I don’t think so.
Facing your own emotions, letting go of attachment, and riding the market’s natural waves with a calm brain—that’s a very honest and intelligent business, in my view.
That’s why I am serious about increasing the number of traders who face the market honestly rather than turning it into a casino, even if only one more person.
Not winning with temporary luck, but growing a lifetime “mindset” and “skills” together. I’d be happy if I could continue delivering the fun and depth of trading to everyone.
Thank you truly for reading until the end!
