Seed of Awareness #01|Now, know what you are capable of on the chart.
ULTRA THEORY / ESSAY SERIES
Seed of Awareness#01
Now, I will know on the chart “what you can do”.
People often say, “I can’t read the chart.” In truth, what that means varies greatly from person to person. Some truly understand nothing at all.
Some can see that it is rising. Some can see that the trend has broken. Some can see that it is trying to return to the previous flow.
But they may not understand what that movement signifies within the higher timeframes. Some people are like that. It isn’t simply “I can’t read the chart.”
01 / OBSERVATION
First, understand “what you can do”.
You look at a single chart and understand nothing. Then,it’s enough to know that you understood “nothing.”.
That becomes your starting point. If you understand a little, you might observe yourself up to the point that you “know the rise is happening,” “know that the flow broke here once,” and “still don’t know where the rise resumes afterward.”
Then, it isn’t “I’m useless” but, you’ll see what you can do up to a certain point and where you can’t anymore..
This is extremely important, I believe.
02 / OBSERVATION
Even when it’s the same thing you couldn’t do, the substance is different.
For example, on a 1-minute chart, the switch to an upward move was visible. So you bought. But you lost. If that were all, it might be boiled down to “the entry point was wrong.”
But when you switch back to the 1-hour chart, you’re still in the middle of a major decline. In that case, perhaps the real missing piece isn’t entry technique.
Reframe what happens on the lower timeframes as part of the larger timeframe’s story. That might have been it. Even the same loss would guide different practice depending on what you were not able to do.
03 / OBSERVATION
So, to what extent do you understand??
As you look at the chart, ask yourself: Do you understand that the trend is continuing? Do you understand that the continuation has broken?
After a break, do you understand that it is trying to reconnect to the original flow? And do you understand if that reconnection failed?
Did that failure cause the larger timeframe's narrative to crumble as well? And now,can you articulate what wave you are aiming for and what you are targeting?.
If you go this far, the binary of “chart readable or not” ceases to suffice. People see different aspects.
And the places where the thread is broken differ as well.
THE QUESTION
Here, consider one question.
Can you now explain where you are on the chart in terms of what you can do right now?
And one more.
Can you also acknowledge that you don’t know what comes next?.
In fact, whether you can answer these two questions can create a significant gap in a trader’s current position. Because—the state of “knowing what you don’t know” itself is a form of ability..
From here on, I’ll discuss levels of the ability to read charts that exist apart from winning or losing.
