Cutting over 1,000 hours of waste per year. How successful traders relate to their smartphones
Hello, I am oukanoakari (All-Mighty) ✨
Today, I was watching a YouTube video and couldn’t help but nod deeply, saying, “This is it…!”
The thoughts I have valued for a long time and my trading philosophy toward FX were perfectly verbalized, and I felt such strong resonance.
Even though you’re努力 in FX, you’re not seeing results easily. “If I don’t enter here, I’ll miss out!” you panic and jump in, only for the price to move and you get stopped out…?
Aren’t there people suffering from the “posiposhi disease” and “mind blow” like that?
Don’t worry. It’s not because your “willpower is weak,” is it?
In fact, I used to be a典型的 smartphone-dependent trader as well. I’d grip my phone even when going to the bathroom, constantly checking charts around the clock and impulsively entering trades. And then, thinking “If I wait a little longer, it might come back…” my perfectionist tendency caused slow stopouts and huge losses…?
I kept making those kinds of mistakes.
But once I realized something, my trading changed dramatically.
Today, I’d like to share with you the hints I gained from that video on how to take back control of life (and trading).
? 1. Are you watching the “market,” or being controlled by the “apps”?
What was discussed in the video is the term “attention economy.”
Today’s smartphone apps (social media, video sites, etc.) are created by people with top-tier intellect who have calculated how to get users dependent and staying longer, to the fullest extent ??
Don’t you think FX brokers’ apps and chart tools are exactly the same?
Flickering rates, figures that turn red or blue. We think we are analyzing the market, but we may actually be being forced to click by the platform itself.
Even if you tell yourself with willpower alone, “I’ll stop looking at the charts,” you won’t win. After all, the other side is a pro at making you dependent ?♀️
? 2. The strongest rule to become a “patient trader”
So, what should you do? The answer was very simple.
“Physically distance yourself from your smartphone”?♂️?
As recommended in the video, I’ve now mostly switched my trading setup to a computer, and deliberately keep my smartphone in a different room.
I currently monitor 28 currency pairs plus gold (a total of 29 instruments) and trade a relaxed intraday based mainly on the 4-hour chart.
I pride myself on my strength of “overwhelming patience,” and the secret lies precisely in this “physical distance.”
Removing the smartphone’s “noise” from sight. This is the strongest rule for preventing posiposhi and waiting for truly advantageous points ?️✨
? 3. Substituting actions to make “free time” your ally
When you put the smartphone down, initially you’ll feel incredibly bored (laughs). You’ll feel fidgety and uneasy, right?
What’s important here is to prepare an “alternative activity.”
In my case, whenever I want to touch my smartphone, I immediately open my “trade notebook” ✍️
I analyze past losing trades and carefully plan the next scenarios. My weakness of “late stopouts” has gradually improved thanks to calm self-review in this notebook ✨
Replacing the unconscious reflex of touching the smartphone with time for “learning” to improve trading skills. With just this habit, the visible world will change dramatically, you know?
? To avoid turning the market into a casino
Why do I so insist on "smartphone abstinence" and “patience”?
Because I want tonot to make the market a casinofor you.
Getting excited by every smartphone screen and pressing buttons like a gambler is just gambling. But FX, at its core, is a “work” and a “technique” that should be faced honestly and controlled by yourself.
I sincerely hope to increase the number of traders who face the market with integrity and firmly take control of their own life’s direction, even if just a little.
Starting today, why not rethink your distance from your smartphone a little? Surely a quiet, powerful change will come to your trading as well?
Thank you for reading until the end!
